I doubt it. He has skills.
And it was harder for him to get Underground recognition being white. Just easier to sell units in the mainstream.
I'm off this topic now though, I keep making myself look dumb.
nah i agree with you...bout selling units....we can only guess what would have happened and that is pointless...haha

but uhh cage has a smilar style...slim shady style and he is still underground...thats why i said he would be still underground too...

Just thinking, how fucked up would it be to see Eminem & Benzino battle live?

I'd be watching from behind the couch cuz that shit would be horrific.

Benzino would get ripped a new asshole like he was in an hour long porno with Banks.... I mean whoever that gay dude was

how is he pure hip hop, how is "my band", "just lose it" hip hop, get your tounge out of his arsehole.
I keep seeing you say shit like this...

"My Band isn't hip hop". "lmao @ you saying Nelly is hip hop".

However, you have failed to answer a question I've asked you twice. If My Band isn't hip hop and Nelly doesn't make hip hop music, then what the fuck are they? What genre of music do you classify them?

If you're going to respond with some 15 year old bullshit retort like "they're bullshit, lol", don't even bother.

I think if Eminem can take the piss out of Christopher Reeves, Benzino can say what he likes about Eminem's uncle. Freedom of speech anyone?

Anyhow, regarding sniper's comment that 'five mics...' triggered it, I agree.
While Benzino & those at the Source may have disliked Eminem for a long time, the beef never really became newsworthy until Eminem dropped that line & diss records ensued.
First of all, I completely agree with you about whether or not it was "ok" for Benzino to rip Ronnie in this diss. Eminem, when answering a question about the Ja Rule beef in an interview he did in Detroit like three weeks ago, expanded on a line he spit in LTS...

"When it comes to the rap game and battling, the content of who or what you can talk about in a battle really only has one guideline to follow, at least here where we're from. That one rule is that you do not say anything about your opponents children in a battle. You can rip them up, say something about their girl, their boys, even say something about their mother. But you never bring their kids into it. That's when Ja crossed the line, when he said Hailie's name."

So, anyway, I don't think Benzino was "wrong" for using the line. However, Benzino has to be prepared for the fact that when Em hears it, chances are he is going to release an extremely lethal diss. This statement may sound a little over the top, but if you really examine it, Benzino needs to realize Em COULD very well destroy Zino's respectability and career. Didn't Zino say in a recent interview that Russell Simmons pulled ads from The Source because "he decided to side with Dre and Jimmy and Em, so I have lost revenue from this"?

As for Em's line about The Source, I HIGHLY DOUBT that the beef was lit over that. If that line was what made Benzino really pissed, enough to do what he's done since then, then not is that only really sad but that shows Benzino himself doesn't know the business. I mean, Jesus Christ...Em has spit lines about XXL on songs before, including "Marshall Mathers":

"And then to top it off, I walked to the newsstand
to buy this cheap-ass little magazine with a food stamp
Skipped to the last page, flipped right fast
and what do I see? A picture of my big white ass
Okay, let me give you motherfuckers some help:
uhh, here - DOUBLE XL, DOUBLE XL
Now your magazine shouldn't have so much trouble to sell"

my band and just lose it are marketing tricks to get the consumer to buy his albums...they need something to catch on...I think it was in XXL too he admitted that..but ive said this all b4 ive ever read the fuckin article....so my band etc is business...some of his other tracks can be seen as hiphop...
Wow...can't believe I'm doing this but, Hurts is actually completely right here.

It doesn't take a genius though to figure out what the purpose of songs such as these are for. It's really actually ridiculous though to use that format when you're Eminem and you know you don't "need" to do that anymore. He hasn't needed that strategy since the MMLP dropped.

And yes, Hurts, he has admitted that in several interviews actually, as you mentioned. As a matter of fact, I've also seen him in interviews on TV and read statements from him where he says he completely fucking hates performing those songs as well.

didnt eminem make fun of everlasts heart attack ? or am i thinkin of someone else
Em would hardly be the first to comment or use a persons medical condition in a rap.

"Oh yah Mobb Deep (uhh)
You wanna fuck with us
You Little young ass mutha-f**kas
Don't one of you niggas got sickle-cell or something
You fucking with me, nigga ?
You fuck around and catch a seizure or a heart-attack
You better back the fuck up
Before you get smacked the fuck up"

That ring a bell?

maybe so but, i was refering to pittsey saying, eminem is "pure" hip hop, if he was pure then why the fuck would he make songs like that, its business so how can it be pure, pure means untouched, eminem was told to get sales he would have to "sell out" meaning do something he dont really like to do so he can get sales, so if he would do that, how is he pure hip hop.
How can it be "pure" hip hop when it's about business? Because even hip hop is about making money. EVERYTHING in life is about money and business. EVERYTHING.

Em wouldn't even have to retort, that would be career suicide for Zino. Not even HE'S that stupid.

That's the cool thing about the 8 Mile DVD. If you go to the extras they have a 10 minute thing where they had a contest during lunch breaks during the shooting. They had 140 people sign up to battle. Narrowed it down to the top 5 and those top 5 got to get on stage and LITERALLY battle Eminem.

It was real interesting to see him on the stage actually battling people, like REAL true battling. It was pretty cool to watch. Funny thing is, the stuff he spit on the extras against the 5 participants were better than his scripted battles for the movie.

Jason, I wasn't saying that the 5 mics line was the one that started it or nothing but you've got to admit it was the most blatant line from Eminem that dissed the Source. I mean, Benzino could've been dissing Eminem for months & nobody would've really cared until Eminem spoke on it, that's all I'm saying.

I mean, what numbers did The Eminem Show do, cuz I know it was crazy just think how many people heard that line.... & after that the actual diss records started coming

As a stan, I mean fan, though you should know that some of the lines Eminem used he'd used before n battles so it wasn't completely freestyling, but then who does?

And I think he particularly ripped the female rapper although the fat fuck, fast ass rapper, was pretty good.

Also, there was that one who Eminem mimed with, dude must've been pissed when he found the crowd got him to actually battle the rest of them.

Eminem pure hip hop. hahaha, he rep's it well, from his image, to his choices in beef to his music and Choices of singles to put hip hop in a good light, check the classic "encore", REPRESENT YO

I know what you're saying. I just don't think that Zino decided that that line was the "final straw" or whatever. Eminem rips everyone and anyone. He's even said before that the ONLY people he'll never mention in a rap is the Beastie Boys because "I have such an intense amount of respect and admiration for what they've done for hip hop and I wouldn't ever want them to even think, even have to wonder if I'm dissing them if I put them in a song". I don't think Em did it to be vicious or start shit or anything, I think he was just being Eminem.

I also don't think he was trying to be blatant either. Again, I think he was just being Eminem and fucking with people

First of all...*eye roll* @ "as a stan".

Yeah, he ripped the female, but she fucked up twice. She choked. She started out good, spit out about probly 6 or 7 bars and then when into laughter because obviously her mind went blank. Then, didn't she start up again and spit out like 4 or 5 more bars and then choked a second time? I don't know, it's been like 6 months since I watched the DVD.

I didn't like the fat dude. I thought he was fucking horrible. Now, the first guy, his name was Marvin, don't remember his last name. He was the best one of them all I thought.

So you try to discredit Em as "true hip hop" because Encore wasn't a classic?

Yeah, that makes sense. *eye roll*

NOTE: Anyone know what the fuck is up with the smiley faces and the quote and bold options and all that? Everytime I click on any of that all it does is scrolls the screen to the top of the page.

Yeah but the line went somethign like, '5 mics in the Source, I ain't holding my fucking breath'

That's pretty straightforward/blatant. And I think Eminem was being vicious, which I also believe he was justified to be, particularly as he thought his mentor, Dre, had got fucked over.

Again, it was Benzino's decision to make as to whether it was the 'final straw', think of the number of people who will have been talking to him about that shit. He had to do something, it forced his hand, regardless of whether Eminem had meant to.

Yeah the Marvin dude with the skull cap, he had some lines. In the auditions he spit some shit about, 'turn my back on you like Puff did Shyne' and that got a good reaction.

As for fatty being horrible, I think his style is one that you either love or hate... then again I just liked it.

OK, let me explain myself better. When I said I don't think Em was being blatant, I didn't mean in terms of how straight forward or subliminal the diss was. I meant I didn't think he was being blatant from the aspect of him spitting that line with the intention of being like "fuck you benzino, fuck you and your whole fucking magazine". I just think he was basically saying "just because Benzino doesn't give a rapper 5 mics doesn't mean anything other than that's his opinion".

I just...I personally think Benzino has started this whole fucking thing. He's desperate to discredit Em and or rid him of his status as much if not moreso than Suge wants Dre humiliated.
