Film & TV The Official watch this good movie thread

I forgot to mention one of the funniest movies ever:

Friday - this is probably the greatest Ice Cube and Chris Tucker movie ever made. I rented this so many times I should've bought it by now.

Peace

ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND - at what lengths would you go to forget about an ex lover, its like a deathless suicide almost, cutting out all memories of a person because it hurts too much to live without them.

HERO - how far will you let revenge push you, and at what point do you sacrifice your emotions for the greater good of fellow man and country.

12 ANGRY MEN - Get 12 jurors in a room, all average americans, and watch how each decide on a murder case based on ethnicity, social class, inate racism, personal tradgedy and just total subjective bias.

A PATCH OF BLUE - living with blindness and the problems integrating into society, also one of the first movies to explore interracial relationships and overcoming racism.

Other movies I have to mention but cant be bothered expanding on :

LOST IN TRANSLATION
LOVE LIZA
BORN ON THE 4TH OF JULY
BOWLING FOR COLUMBINE
FAHRENHEIT 9/11

man i love movies.

Don't be a Menace in South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood - anybody seen this? lmao It's a Spoof version of movies like Menace II Society and Boyz in the Hood.

It's got Shawn Wayans in out of Scary Movie.

He is in Senseless as well. They both got humour.

I really liked Lost in Translation and the more I see it, the more I like it. I'll do the explanation for you....

It's about disatisfaction in life, miscommunication and the sense of alienation - exacerbated by the foreign sterility of Tokyo. Bill Murray and Charlotte Johansson were great. And while there is no ultimate turning points or drama, the messages were subtle and delivered in a sophisticated manner.

You're right Amara it was very interesting and had an original story to it, btw did anyone get to know what Murray said to Johansson in her ear at the end? Even the people asking Bill last year at the Oscars couldn't get an answer.

Also did any of you check out the documentary The Promises. I heard this is one very good work of art, it's about a dozen of jewish and palestinians kids that get to play together for about 2 weeks and then 3-4 years later they are asked by the director of the movie if they want to do a reunion of some sort and things get more complicated from there on. Anyways I didn't see it yet but I heard it's a very powerful documentary that basically shows both sides of the stories.

Peace

Supertroopers was mad funny even though it wasn't a big budget movie. Two other great comedies are:

Tomcats
Buying the Cow - a great movie that is probably unknown to a lot of cats, btw Ryan Reynolds is in this.

Peace

I can't remember, but has Hero been mentioned?

That movie is stunning. I'm not one for getting excited about camera shots & the like, but some of the visuals this movie presents are amazing.

The plot is interesting, with a refelctive tale being told from different points of view all the while the situation at hand is still pending.

Some nice sequences of martial arts & swordplay for those interested, but overall it's more of a visual experience & philosophy-based movie.

Highly recommended.

If you check the 5 pages you'll find that only a small part of the thread has been corrupted by poor responses.
i did check them all, theres some straight up bullshit

do you want me to go through them all, just like at this page, super troopers, dont be a menace in south central, born on the 4th of july, 12 angry men, godfather

and other movies too just on this page are more about emotion then "wisdom"

There is a lot of wisdom that can be derived from a look at human emotions.

A large proportion of so-called wisdom is in direct relation to emotions so you could say we're looking at the inverse.

And if you want the standard of the thread to be higher, maybe you should provide detailed reasons/analysis with your choices.

Vanilla Sky - A man's life is changed by real love and a freak car accident.

Girl, Interupted - A young girl is shown the world of female mental institutions and finds some real interesting characters.

Hero - A story of perspective (truth and lies) and ultimatley forgiveness and mercy/peace.

American Beauty - A young man finds beauty in seemingly ugly/unfortunate/hectic/trajic circumstances. This movie is really about God in the world.

Peace.
