Tae Guk Gi: The Brotherhood of War is an awesome movie. Its about the Korean war and shows both sides of the battle, and how 2 brothers slowly seperate from the effects of war but come together near the end. Very sad ending, on par with Grave of the Fireflies

I dont think anyone mentioned, "What Dreams May Come". It has a sick philosophy on heaven and hell. It's in a very deep way and makes you wonder how death really is.

Robin Williams was amazing in it, so was Cuba in it. Great great movie.

I just saw 'The Downfall' last night. Another amazing movie. Interesting to see what actually happened in the last days of the Reich.

Haven't seen 'Ghost in the shell' yet Rukas, I've read some of the mangas, but never seen the movie. Heard it was great though.

Another movie I've seen recently was 'Micheal Collins' great movie - Liam Neeson, acting is fucking insane - It's about how Ireland beat the Brittish Empire by Guerilla Warfare (Which Micheal Collins invented) then it shows how Ireland was put into a 'civil war' if you want to call it that. Any history fan will love it.

puff. PUFF. pass.
alright. i don't have time to look through all these pages of movies, so i'm just gonna list a couple good ones you should see, and if it was already listed, then whatever.

---------

fight club > great movie. classic. if you haven't seen it yet, rent it. or better yet, buy it. definately worth seeing.

north country > just came out. pretty good, for more of a serious, erin brokavich-ish movie. not a date movie, though.

2 for the money > with al pacino. i think it's still in theaters. not his best work, but still pretty good.

green mile > older movie...from the mid-90s, but one of my favorites. it's long, so you might wanna break up your viewing period, but it's definately worth it.

----------

i'll post some more in a couple days.

Old Boy was raw as fuck. That scene with his hammer in the hallway. Crazy shit.

Crash

This is a very powerful movie. It shows the racism in America. I'm not talkin about 1 sided racism like Higher Learning, it shows how people of all backgrounds are racist towards each other. The different stereotypes society has created for those backgrounds affect their judgment, beliefs and actions, This in turn causes problems for each of them. It demonstrates how we all think, even if we hide those thoughts. White people dont have to wear white hoods, black people dont have to be gang members, dark tanned people dont have to be terrorists etc. At the end of the movie you realize how much alike we all are and just realize were all just fuckin human. Very powerful movie like i said.

An allstar B level cast: Don Cheadle, Matt Dillon, Sandra Bullock, Brendan Fraser, Ludacris, Ryan Phillippe, Larenz Tate, William Fichtner, and others.

All actors give really good performances. I recommend this movie, unless you dont like movies with powerful dialogue and just wanna see people get blown up, if so then dont watch this.

(the quote in my signature is from this movie)

I'd strongly recommend Amelie, a French film with English subtitles. A great film regarding the conundrum of existence and the simple pleasures in life. Id also recommend Vanilla Sky and American Beauty which deal with that very theme in very different ways.

Watership Down - A British cartoon movie bout a bunch of rabbits that run away and start a new colony... Not kiddy stuff though.. Its actually really about communism and democracy..

Hotel Rwanda - About a hotel manager that hides a bunch of refugees in his hotel so they dont get murdered by an opposing tribe.. Has Don Cheadle in it..

To Live - Chinese movie about a rich chinese guy that gambles away his family fortunes, then lives thru the 1950's- 1990's in poverty.

La Strada - Italian movie in black in white. It was made in the 1950's but its awesome.. About a travelling circus strongman that buys a retarded girl from her mom, rapes her, makes her his servant, then he leaves her on the side of the road, she dies, and he gets sad. It won the best foreign film award of that year.

City Of God - Bout a kid in the ghettos of Rio De Janero growing up and becoming a famous photographer while dodging the evils and ills of the drug trade.. The documentary on the dvd is just as good as the movie..

These are my FAVORITE movies of all time!

But theyre all kinda depressing

The Woodsman (2004) - Starring: Kevin Bacon, Kyra Sedgwick, Mos Def, Eve, David Allen Grier and Benjmain Bratt. This is a really good movie, with some really good acting (bacon & mos def) it's about a man who spent 12 years in prison for molesting children and is released and tries to start a new life, but finds himself haunted by past demons.

Things To Do In Denver When You're Dead (1995) - Starring: Andy Garcia, Christopher Lloyd, William Forsythe, Treat Williams, Bill Nunn, Jack Warden, Fairuza Balk, Gabrielle Anwar, Bill Cobbs Steve Buscemi and Christopher Walken. This is also a great movie, with great acting and great dialogue I believe this movie is totally underrated and was completely forgotten because of "Pulp Fiction." It's about a man named Jimmy the Saint who's business is videotaping the terminally-ill, so that they will be around to give 'Afterlife Advice' to their survivors. He hasn't been doing too well lately and has had to turn to loan-sharks to accomodate his failing business, as well as his expensive personal tastes. When The Man With The Plan buys up his note and demands a favor of Jimmy, in exchange for the interest that he can't afford, Jimmy agrees and rounds up a crew of 4, but then the favor goes awry and they are told to get out of Denver for good or they're dead and to make it worse a hitman named Mister Shhh shows up to see they get out quicker.

Léon AKA The Professional (1994)

Jean Reno
Natalie Portman
Gary Oldman

A perfect assassin. An innocent girl. They have nothing left to lose except each other. He moves without sound. Kills without emotion. Disappears without trace. Only a 12 year old girl... knows his weakness.

I give it a 9.5/10.
It's truely brilliant.
