As Game On notes, David Stern has had to deal with a lot over his 25 years as NBA commissioner. Drugs, television contracts, corrupt referees, outspoken owners, flat broke franchises, Rasheed Wallace, the list goes on an— Canada! He had to deal with Canada! Grrrrrrrrr ...

But all of that pails in comparison to Stern's newest headache: Joel Pryzbilla's angry grandmother! Grrrrrrrrr ...

Jason Quick of The Oregonian explains:

Remember the movie "Shawshank Redemption", where Andy Dufresne wrote a letter every week to the state to get books for the prison library? Well, the same concept is underway with the grandmother of Blazers center Joel Przybilla.

The octogenarian plans to write NBA commissioner David Stern a series of letters complaining about the $7,500 fine Przybilla received for his part in an altercation with New Orleans center Tyson Chandler on Friday. Chandler was ejected and suspended a game for throwing a punch. Przybilla said he was stunned at the fine, but was handling it better than his grandmother.

"She said she is going to keep writing Stern until she hears back from him,'' Przybilla said smiling. "And believe me, she will.''

Sports By Brooks has video of the altercation and you can see why "The Vanilla Grandmilla" (man, I wish my grandma had such a cool nickname) is so upset. But hey, Joel, would it kill you to set nana up with a freakin' e-mail account? She's going to get writer's cramp.

MIAMI (AP)—The Miami Heat traded guard Shaun Livingston and cash to the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday, in exchange for a conditional second-round pick in the 2012 draft.

Livingston, a once-dynamic point guard who signed with the Heat in October with hopes of resurrecting his career after a catastrophic knee injury, only played in four games with Miami. He averaged 2.3 points in 10.3 minutes and didn’t appear in any of Miami’s last 13 games.

If he remained on Miami’s roster after 7 p.m. Wednesday, his contract with the Heat would have been guaranteed for the remainder of the season—and since the Heat is flirting with the luxury-tax plateau, the team was seeking to make a move.

Livingston, the No. 4 overall pick in the 2004 draft by the Los Angeles Clippers, suffered a horrific injury on Feb. 26, 2007, tearing three knee ligaments and dislocating his kneecap in a gruesome scene. He sat out the entire 2007-08 season.
