Nirvana are releasing a 30th anniversary edition boxset for Nevermind. I picked up the 20th anniversary edition in 2011. I don't think I need another.

Have pre ordered the 4lp box set of let it be though. And the book. And looking forward to the documentaries on Disney+

Has anyone seen Squid Game? I don't watch too many "International" movies or shows but I saw the hype around it and gave it a shot. It's pretty good, just as others are saying. I'm only on the third episode but it's been great.

I really like the black mask the leader of the game (I think?) is wearing and I'm seeing lots of things about where to buy the mask and outfit for Halloween.

It might be. I haven't seen The Hunger Games but what little I know about the premise of HG, Squid Games may be very similar. There doesn't seem to be a supernatural, magically wizard BS that THG might have had.

It might be. I haven't seen The Hunger Games but what little I know about the premise of HG, Squid Games may be very similar. There doesn't seem to be a supernatural, magically wizard BS that THG might have had.

I'll be honest and say I haven't watched Hunger Games. But I know just from reading plot outlines how I'll feel about the movie. I refuse to accept the premise, even as an excercise. Then we could have a discussion about gladiators and viability, but just, no. I refuse

So with that said, maybe I'd like this series more than I would have liked Hunger Games, had I seen it. There's just something about the premise that kills it before the movie even starts, to me. "Kids let loose in a maze in a fight to the death, last man standing gets their freedom". If we could embed gifs, I woulld embed an african-american woman snapping her fingers and saying "nuh-uh".

I watched the new Bond movie. It's a one of a kind Bond movie in more ways than one, and man what a bang for Daniel Craig to go out with. It is the best of the new Bond movies, though admittedly I haven't actually seen "Skyfall", just parts of it. Seemed to me that one was pretty good, too. But yeah, this was highly worth it for a popcorn flick.

Haven't watched Shang-Chi yet but need to get that out of the way before Eternals and Spider-Man drops. Man I am SO frickin excited for Spider-Man. Man, what a time to be alive. I feel so blessed to be able to have childhood cartoon memories come to life this way. As if there's not enough privelege being born at the end of the 20th century. But having childhood dreams being made alive is something super special imo. Who else in the 100,000 year history of human kind could ever experience something even remotely similar? Such a treat for the imagination.

I have decided I will give Squid Game a chance. I think I'm overly prejudiced because Hunger Games was the teeny thing after Twilight. This really all is Robert Pattinson's fault. I know I'm gonna love him in Batman though!

The first Hunger Games movie was decent. The second, so-so and didn't watch anymore. Midnight Mass on Netflix is really good.

I talked to my sister who said the premise is similar. I think this is a more adult-oriented one, though, at least with the extra violence and gore. I have also decided to give The Hunger Games a shot as she told me the first one was really the only one worth watching as the sequels may not have stayed true to the books. She read the books well before the movies came out and she said all the books were great.

It's pretty aids. i watched 30 mins of the first episode and had to turn it off. Maybe its the dubbing aspect but the whole show was just stupid i thought.

I watched it in Korean with English subs. I've read that the translation altered some key moments in the show due to the variations in interpretation/translation. I didn't hear the same for the dubbed version, though.

Also, the Indian guy, Ali, is dubbed by a guy that went to high school with me. Didn't know that until halfway through the show. Still didn't watch it dubbed.

The key to enjoying shows that are actually good is to get in before the hype starts. Or if it already has begun, to still get in early on. Otherwise, the memes start flowing and every "journalist" on every blog is trying to give their hot take on the show before anyone else can. As a result, people who haven't seen it feel like they're being "preached at" by others to watch it and like it. Then the feeling of FOMO hits and I don't think the viewer comes in to the show unbiased and usually ends up hating the show. Same goes for the people that never even give a show a shot.
