This is my thread

Yup, the Death Row East song doesn't even feel like rap, more like Nas telling a story to have closure (and let folks who don't bother watching interviews know why 2pac dissed him and Nas didn't do a thing) without even caring about making his lines rhyme well:

We livin' in biblical times

Don't be discouraged, just go with the plan
Gotta have faith in God's grace over the land
And I pray for the day when they lay down
And caged make their way up out that maze
Get their mind up out a daze
Too many mamas layin' flowers at they graves
Don't rap about death, it's power in what you say

Speak gospel for the next generation
You can have it all, just don't side with Satan
I seen that take down most of the greatest
Hotel suites, Hollywood stars hangin'
The other side of what you think is fly
Your jewelry could be cursed and so can your ride
Let that soak in your mind, Suburbans and Beamers
Shot up with Ninas, how to stop a young genius
Spiritual like a deep cut from Shirley Caesar
I wonder if it's Jesus when a baby reach up
Sharpenin' up myself 'cause I know they need us
My African skin gave me the passion to win
Yeah, prayin' this doesn't come to a tragic end

My old car is on its last legs. Also, the used car market is still lucrative. New one comes home tomorrow. Another German in my dad's stable.

Haha. Fair enough.... I just assumed your Dad replaced his car every two years

He keeps his cars for a while too. 11 years on his last Lexus and he has plans to keep his seven year old car for another three years at least. My mom and sister both got cars in the past 3 years though. Maybe that's what you were thinking of. But the last 5er he got me lasted 13 years. But I was also kind to it and didn't drive like an utter nipple.

Depends on your car and your public transport options.... Also... I consider my time to be valuable

But my car is from 2013 and costs very little to run
Yes that is very true. I live in an area with amazing public transport and only use my car on the weekend.

Still, i would never waste my money on a new car. i drive a 2013 nissan.

Yup I don't drive. I find buses/trains and using Uber when necessary to be cheaper and much more convenient. It's like making an extra $12k a year while ridding myself of some hassle in life. I really have a hard time imagining driving on a daily basis, taking care of maintenance, insurance, all while remembering the depreciation costs and feeling guilty about my carbon footprint, let alone risks that I can cause a deadly accident. It's not even much faster, and sometimes being stuck in a car lane and struggling to find parking spots means it takes longer to get to many places. I'd understand for folks who don't have a choice, but in my city it feels like such an obvious way to go, yet I feel like an alien for feeling this way.

Living downtown in a city has its perks like that. But in the suburbs, especially the US, stuff is a bit more spread out and public transport is almost non-existent. It gets better the closer you get to the city but it's still not like actually living in the city.

I do enjoy the Metra train that goes from about 40 miles out from downtown and in to suburbs in about 40 minutes. The people riding on that train are a lot cleaner and more professional. Taking the shitty CTA buses and trains, though, will have some hobo pissing on your shoe while a crackhead offers to jack you off in your seat for a biscuit.

I drive a 2013 Golf with a 1.4l engine

I am considering buying a 1999 Mercedes SL500 though. For weekend driving

Man i can't even imagine starting my day by sitting in traffic. I would be insufferable.

i walk about 7 min to the train in the morning, 10 min ride to the city and then 7 min walk to the office. It's perfecr.
