hiphop died when tupac and big died IMO ...and all those other rappers after them are just trying to shock the rap game back to life.. some rappers came close .. but no cigar.....to this day . .till the resurrection of tupac and biggie ... the rap game will remain on life support ...

There was and still is more to hip-hop than Tupac and Biggie.

Hip-hop changes.
It's going through a different phase, a phase where fake beefs and hard talk is popular. It's more about the showbiz side than the music. It's been through different stages before; revolutionary, shiny suits lol. At the moment it's more about club music, music you can dance too.
There's still good acts out there, different types of hip-hop for everyone. It just may not get played on MTV. It depends what you like.

I wont say it's dead but it's not elevating anywhere at the current time. I can only feel a few albums released in the last 5 years like Speakerboxx, NIA, Steal this double album, Godzilla, Quality. I'd only consider a few classics but it's just nothing 2 special for me n e more cause all my favorite artists r either not putting out music or dead or beefing

hip hop is dying, the state of it right now is so pitiful only a 14 yearold wouldnt think so, no offense roaches, i just callit how i see it, i cant even name 10 artists im feel'n now, i can barely name 2. Hip hop has fallen to shitheads with gold fronts an use the words thurrr an hurrr in every line. given the opportunity i would much rather rewind time back to 96 when in my opinion hip hop was at its best. These rejects we have now that call themselves "mc's" are a disgrace to the art form we call hip hop an will ultimately kill it, someone said hip hop is on life support damn aint that the truth an right now it has a dnro ( do not recesitate order) unless someone with some real skill an real lyrics comes along an knocks these current clowns outa here. in my opinion production doesnt mean shit, i know some people here will argue that one but man you can have the best production on an album but if the message is shitty your album isnt worth a shit on the other hand you can have the worst production but if ya message is on point an ya flow is tight then the production doesnt matter, now thats hip hop, not some faggot screaming Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, get crunk!!!! Thats garbage. I'll stick wit the underground cats for now thats where the real love for this artform is, until someone with real heart an love for the music comes along.

I don't think Hip Hop is in trouble... a lot of people around me are growing out of it though.. but I supposed they had the wrong idea about Hip Hop in the first place.

Here's my problem with hip hop. First let me say this. I love hip hop. I think it is THE movement that actually has the power to change things in this society that is becoming more and more of a joke to those who see thru all the bullshit. Now to my one problem with it. Hip Hop, and hip hop artists (that is, most of the ones we see becoming popular today), do not see the power that they have to change things for not only their own people and race, but for all races in America. I think it is ridiculous that a rapper that makes his living rapping about the struggles he faced in the hood does not spend his power and money to improve the situation of the people living in the same poverty as he did before corporate america paid him for his creativity. I think music as a whole does not belong to one person or corporation. It's a REVELATION from something higher and greater than yourself. Your talent is GIVEN to you, not created BY you. Why spend all your money on diamonds and ridiculous things like spinning chrome wheels, or thousand dollar pinky rings. What does that show? That you have money? Mothafucka we know you have money. DO something with it. I do not respect an self proclaimed artist that does not create for the sake of creation, or for the sake of creating something bigger than his ego. Give me a fucking break. Look at N'Sync, or any other corporate-created group or artist that does what his or her label tells them.. do you respect that? Does it make you feel good that you are supporting the rapper's diamond fund? Or would you rather see these albums represent something more?

I love Hip Hop. I just wish Hip Hop would start loving people back, and I mean people who LISTEN and support these artists because it makes them feel good. People feel music. It is not enough in my eyes for a rapper to just make music and waste his money on shit he doesnt need while his peers starve in the same ghetto he lived in. That's not acceptable to me. I'm just a normal human being that knows right from wrong. And this is what is wrong with hip hop.

Hate if you want.. tell me I'd do the same thing if I were rich (you'd be lying, not me).. but go outside for a second and look around. Why is the world fucked up and why are people dying and starving in the greatest country in the world? Why does this happen if we have individuals that make more than an entire ghetto combined and spend it on ROCKS. Fucking shiny rocks. Or better yet.. shiny metal. Who puts the value on that? We do. I think it is time hip hop put the value on something a little more real, like the fucking incredible people that keep the hip hop movement going: the headstrong poor in the slums .. the Gods in starving black bodies. How about we get them some food and respect they can create with (as opposed to destroy with) before we waste our money on shiny rocks and 20 cars?

:thumb: thats real talk, we need more cats like Pac an Suge who acctually gave back to the community, lotta hate on here for Suge Knight an even though he isnt a rapper he did indeed give back to the struggling black community, same with Pac. Seems like those days are gone but who knows maybe someone will rise up an return hip hop to where it was was.

People who are saying hip hop isn't dead are all talking about the underground, of course the underground isnt dead, saying the underground is dead is a contradiction in itself. Maybe the shit that most people hear, and most people listen to is dead, not that one rapper no one knows about but you and your crew.

Everybody talking about "I turn on the TV or radio and I hear whatever generic song"...Why don't you just turn off MTV and your radio? These stations are not required to cater to your specific needs, the argument is not about whether the media is playing music you like, it's whether or not the good music you like exists, and I find it impossible to imagine that there is anyone who is not enjoying any of the music that is coming out. So therefore the music you like is still coming out, what is the problem? Don't worry about what the mainstream heads are listening to if you like the underground scene. MTV and mainstream music was here before you started paying attention, so it would be wise to concentrate on the music you like, not what you don't.
