Cassidy Wanted For Murder

6 in the morning will probably better describe the number of dudes in his cell after he gets locked up.

His career is history. And thank God, one less pop rapper to worry about. I have no sympathy because he did this himself. Though I'm sure another will replace him soon enough.

Cassidy's biggest hits have been bubblegum shit but that can be said for almost every artist no matter how "hard" that rapper may be.

Check the stuff that got Cassidy his deal - it is not pop.

Cassidy Surrenders, Lawyer Says Cassidy Not Involved In Shooting
By Nolan Strong
Date: 6/17/2005 5:30 pm

Barry “Cassidy” Reese surrendered to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania authorities earlier today (June 17) and was charged with homicide, conspiracy and weapons violations.

The rapper, known for hits like “Hotel” featuring R. Kelly and his most recent hit, “I’m A Hustla,” is accused of being one of three men that shot and killed a 22-year-old man in the West Oak Lane section of Philadelphia.

Police allege Cassidy, 22, was one of three men who shot up a car in a driveway on a street, dicing the car with bullets and wounding the three occupants, whom police said were unarmed.

The three wounded men were taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center, where Desmond Hawkins, 22, was pronounced dead from a gunshot wound to the back.

Police said that an argument was at the root of the shooting and that all of the men were acquainted with each other and that the dispute did not involve drugs.

An arrest warrant was issued for the rapper June 8. Cassidy’s lawyer said that his client was innocent and was not involved with the shooting.

"The allegations are not true," Cassidy’s lawyer Michael Giampietro told the Philadelphia Daily News. "The evidence will show he was not involved in the shooting."

As of press time, police were still seeking Abdul West, 23, and another unidentified man in relation to the shooting.

The shooting comes just as the Cassidy is preparing for the June 28 release of his sophomore album, I'm A Hustla.

"Cassidy’s lawyer said that his client was innocent and was not involved with the shooting."

I'm a fan of Cassidy's and I hope he gets outta this. Right now his career is about to pop up and he gets a homicide case! I just don't see this as being true. He's smarter than this and I doubt he would go with anyone with all those guns.

But yeah this will get him some LP sales and maybe a magazine cover or two and an MTV news interview.

Peace.

Don't believe the hype. Its fake. This incident supposedly happened in April, but 2 weeks before his album is about to hit the stores it makes the news. Hot 97's Miss Jones confirmed that it was fake on her morning show. She had a Philadelphia attorney/officer call in to her show and confirm that there is no warrant out for Cassidy in Philadelphia. They both made it clear that Cassidy was not wanted in Philadelphia and that it didn't even make the Philadelphia news station that there was a warrant out for him According to them the whole thing is a publicity stunt.

My thoughts exactly. He has an album coming out in 2 weeks. Marketing. Plain and simple. Just get his name out there to get people's attention. What will get people's attention more than a "celebrity" wanted for murder?
He won't get in trouble, but his name is out there in people's mind so they are hoping for better record sales.
Another example of bullshit marketing like this is the 50/Game "beef" right before 50's album came out.
