11/12 Premier League thread

The first goal is weird. I swear the Sunderland player waits until the whistle goes before he passes the ball back? Gerrard shouldve been sent off for elbowing Welbeck.

Poulsen is shit. and has been for 2 years now. the dogs on the street knew this.

Martin Kelly. still young but id play someone who can defend instead of this spacer who looks flash attacking with his hairstyle but when he has to defend he is fast asleep.

Another good buy by Benitez... ;)

18 fucking Million!

I feel sorry for Hodgson.... He has got a club turmoil...

Hodgson bought Poulsen. Who barely got in one of the worst Juve teams of all time.

Yeah, but he doesn't have the money or the champions league to lure players to Liverpool....

Like I said a few weeeks ago. I hate Benitez, and find it hard to be objective when it comes to him. Hodgson just reminds me of my grandad trying to program the VCR.... I feel sorry for him.

I don't feel sorry for Roy...he could've just stayed at Fulham. He wasn't forced into the Liverpool job.

Of course. But who wouldn't swap Fulham for Liverpool? I feel sorry for him because he actually thought he was capable of doing the job.

As for Rafa. I don't really know why I hate him. Maybe his poor man management. Maybe his ego. Maybe the lack of respect for other managers. Maybe I hate his goatee. I dunno, just hate him.

well, well, well... 2 goals in as many games for Emile Heskey, and Gerard Houllier maintains his 100% record. I will be hoping for a good run, with a winning streak going.

Will watch the highlights later today. I can see Carew not having as much of a role now that the manager who managed Heskey at Liverpool and also swapped John Carew for Milan Baros at Lyon is in charge... I hope this isn't the case.

Props to West Brom for the midweek result and also against arsenal. I shall watch the highlights of those two games also.

Benitez being a poor man management is a load of shite made up by the media. is that the reason why, in a special team interview after the world cup and after Benitez left Liverpool, that Torres and Reina both gave his name as their favourite coach?

His ego? this is a man who went down to a local pub to drink with Liverpool supporters after a champions league game. and while you want to just assume that he has a big ego. i know for a fact he is actually a nice man. because i know someone who met him on a regular basis throughout his time at Liverpool.

lack of respect for who? utter cunts like Ferguson and Allardyce or fat head steve bruce? give me a break. he didnt like this little clique that exists within the premier league and made that known. . all the British sucking each other and making xenophobic comments about the foreign managers. not a good move by him though because they helped with this media campaign to get rid of him which went into full swing after he attacked Ferguson. you never saw Benitez being disrespectful to Wenger did you?

Beware Sensationalist Football Stories in The Daily Star Sunday

A Twitter campaign is underway to highlight the number of football stories being broken by the Daily Star Sunday newspaper in England. All the articles in question share certain characteristics which have attracted the suspicion of a number of online commentators.

They all contain quotes from elite footballers from European leagues. None of the players in question speak English as a first language and many of them barely speak English at all. None of them habitually give interviews to the media either.

Yet the Daily Star Sunday has somehow managed to overcome this series of seemingly insurmountable obstacles to gain unprecedented access to these players.

You can see a selection of some of the contentious stories here. All of them are either written or co-written by Ben Fairthorne:

MEZUT OZIL: I DREAM OF PLAYING FOR MANCHESTER UNITED

DAVID SILVA LIKES THE LOOK OF CHELSEA

JOE HART SHOULD PLAY FOR MANCHESTER UNITED SAYS CASILLAS

TORRES V VIDIC: NOW IT’S PERSONAL

INIESTA: TORRES LOVES SKIPPER GERRARD

LIONEL MESSI: HODGSON WRONGED MASCHERANO IN TRANSFER SAGA

FABIO CAPELLO TOLD HE WAS WRONG TO END BECKHAM'S CAREER

GIGI BUFFON EXPOSES MANCHESTER CITY'S BACK FOUR FLAW

WORLD CUP 2010: WESLEY SNEIJDER IS EVEN BETTER THAN LIONEL MESSI

LIONEL MESSI: GUTIERREZ IS AS GOOD AS ROONEY AND FABREGAS!

JOSE MOURINHO TO SUCCEED ALEX FERGUSON IS A ‘DONE DEAL’

Do Fairthorne and his fellow Daily Star Sunday football writers genuinely enjoy unique access to the likes of Mezut Ozil, David Silva, Iker Casilla, David Villa, Andres Iniesta, Lionel Messi, Gianluigi Buffon, Wesley Sneijder, and Andreas Pirlo?

A lot of football fans, including some well respected pundits, clearly feel that the answer is no. You can see some of the scrutiny which Fairthorne has been subjected to this week here: Twitter.

This morning's Daily Star Sunday carried a grand total of three stories featuring quotes from high profile European based players: WESLEY SNEIJDER: "I'D ONLY PLAY IN ENGLAND FOR MANCHESTER UTD", GERARD PIQUE: FERNANDO TORRES WILL BE ASHAMED OF EUROPA LEAGUE and, last but not least: MANCHESTER UNITED'S DIMITAR BERBATOV TIPPED FOR BALLON D'OR.

.....

lol... You wanted my opinion.

Also, I don't read tabloids.

God. Why can't we win away from home? :wondering: I have no idea why Fergie dropped Evra and Berbatov? Theyre not playing in the international break... Owen and Macheda upfront won't bring goals!

Also. VDV £8m is one hell of a deal.

Duh. Havent I been saying for years that he's world class as long as you make him the man?

Tottenham made him the man. HSV made him the man. Look what he's doing.

Real didn't even make him the man and he still did well. Go figure.

Bargain of the year.

Owen was looking very sharp to me. I thought he'd get some goals this week. And Macheda seems like a good foil for him.

I didn't see the match as I was working on my wife's car, and also need to realign my dish. No footy for me this weekend either as I am at work today. :(
