The Official NBA Thread 2011-12

I kinda said I was a Kobe fan rather than a Lakers fan, so Arthur's argument doesn't really pertain to me...but...

The Lakers were around for decades before Kobe, as a very popular team, mind you. They will be around long after Kobe is gone, as well...with thousands upon thousands of fans. If Kobe leaves, ticket prices won't plummet to pennies, the Staples Center won't be empty, it's the NBA, man, people even go to Grizzlies' games...depending on who they are playing.

Staying loyal to your team is good and all, but McGrady and Steve Francis don't compare to Kobe. Francis lost his athleticism and lost his game. McGrady lost his passion. The Rockets are better than they've ever been without those two players.

LeBron had every right to walk out. If it had been Delonte West who walked out, it wouldn't be a big deal. But since LeBron walked out, he should be taken to the gallows!! Off with his head!!

He is a grown man, if he wants to risk being scrutinized by media in order to walk out, he can do it. He knew the risks before walking out, he isn't an idiot. This isn't near as bad as when he walked out of the game with five minutes left, teammates still on the floor, but since this is in the Conference Finals, it's blown out of proportion.

I never liked Morrison. Mainly because of that damn mustache.

^I think the reason it's being a big deal is because Lebron IS the MVP this season, and his team HAD the best regular season record, Lebron has endorsements from EVERYONE, and he had huge aspirations of making it to the finals and hopefully winning a championship, but to just walk out on the opposing team, the media, and even your OWN TEAM is disrespectful.

No matter how much we would all like to relate to his situation, and try to justify his behavior, only Lebron knows why he walked out without 1 word being said to the opposing team, his teammates, or the media.

Peace

GO LAKERS GO!!!

Can't believe the devastation that Orlando put on the Cavs though, fuck do I love playoffs. Any sport, as long as it be the play-offs or the world-cup, I'm in on the bets, makes it 10x entertaining to watch sports!

The explosive point guard who led the Bulls to the playoffs and won the Rookie of the Year award has come under a cloud cast by an NCAA investigation of major violations at Memphis during the only season he played there. That news was accompanied by media reports that someone at Chicago’s Simeon Career Academy had temporarily changed a D to a C on his college transcript.

In a letter to Memphis, the NCAA says an unknown person took the SAT for a player—with his knowledge—and that the player used it to get admitted. The governing body says the athlete played for the Tigers in the 2007-08 season and the 2008 NCAA tournament. Only one person fits that description—Rose.

Lmao, Rose is a dumbass. Can't get a damn C in a class. Art, please explain how a C or a D is unacceptable.

david stern's a dumbass for creating this fucked-up system and the ncaa are moral cretins for going along with it. i'm happy for rose and feel bad for the millions of poorly-educated young people who aren't good at basketball. i'm also continually impressed with john calipari's ability to forever keep dirt a manageable distance away from his own person.

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP)—Jameer Nelson(notes) wants to play in the NBA finals. Whether the Orlando Magic will let him remains a mystery.

Nelson said Monday that he has been playing full-court games, participating in contact drills and practicing with the Magic for the first time since tearing the labrum in his right shoulder Feb. 3.
ohhhh nooooo, i hope he's rusty as fuck. That's bad news for Lakers fans. Shit.

Hell no. It's good news.

I hope he comes back.

Do you know ANY sport where a star came back before being completely healthy and helping the team win?

NO.

It just doesn't happen. He will just squeeze a few mins in and be a distraction for ORLANDO, imo.

Bob Sanders (NFL Safety) is the only person to come back and help his team, but he was fully healed by then to help the Colts.

^That's true. Plus, they are probably too used to having Alston around as the point guard...

Oh, and i heard today that the best way for the Lakers to win is by getting Howard into foul trouble and having him sit on the bench. I wouldn't be surprised if they went straight at Dwight at the beginning of the game to get him into fouul trouble.

lmao.

did that hit you like an epiphany?

come on, of course that's the game plan for every team against Orlando. It's only that the Cavs have such a shitty offensive front court that they didn't really take advantage of that. Still though, Dwight was in foul trouble for like half the games against the cavs.

i mean, you don't have to "hear" about that. It's common sense.
