Also... Love how you said 'commoners'. These pods are as middle class as they get. When I booked, there was a $500 minimum spend. As there was just two of us, we struggled to hit it

So Betty White died. I had to look up what she was in because I only knew her from being a guest on talk shows or having small cameos at awards shows or things like that. I did remember references to her being on the Golden Girls but obviously never seen that show.

Almost turned 100, too...

lol Eminem gives zero fucks. When I saw him kneel, I thought he was being dramatic and it was part of the show and a segue to the next song but it turns out him kneeling was news even before the Super Bowl and that it was known he was going to do it. Brilliant. My sister immediately said he was kneeling and I didn't believe her but a quick Google search brought up pre-game discussions on his plans to do so.

So strange seeing these artists 20+ years after I started listening to them. No one got clowned on more than 50 putting on a few pounds, but him hanging upside down was pretty cool. MJB gonna need like 2 weeks of intense, daily physical therapy to recover from that.

It was amazing

50 cent looked like he had no idea where he was. Last time I saw him live a few years back he forgot all his lyrics

RIP Logo

Here... The superbowl came into my town not too long ago, you should have seen it - microwave crowd control devices, commandos, black helicopters, full 9/11 2.0 right? - F16s afterburning it at less than 1000 ft above my roof - omg it's the soviets!!! - fuck that shit! Fuck these motherfuckers! Ok, so sorry, I'm not getting blasted into pieces, I should be thankful!! but fuck man! Fuck Eminem, fuck NFL, fuck the Empire and everything it stands for. Fuck the FDA and the CDC. Fuck the CIA and NATO. Fuck your imaginary mansions.

50 is just sitting on that Vitamin Water money for the rest of his life. Dude does nothing but troll on Instagram and it's great. He's the only music artist I follow on social media.

I heard Candy by Cameo for the first time when it was used as a soundtrack to a scene in an episode of This Side Up and now I can't get it out of my head. Been playing it on Spotify on repeat.

The only other song I knew by them was Word Up and that's only because our college matching band played it at games.

Good shit man

Cameo is one of my favorite bands of all time. Been listening to them since I was a kid since my cousins were super into them and had all their records on vinyl.

"Word Up" and "Candy" are just the tip of the iceberg, the commercial hits. It's kinda like getting into MJ via "Billie Jean" and "Thriller". Great songs, but definitely written to be hits.

Cameo is a real interesting band, because they are one of the few bands that successfully navigated all the changes that happened in R&B/Funk from the 70's to the 80's. So on their 70's albums, you'll see album covers where there's like 10 people on the cover, they had a full horn section, live drums, basss, guitar, multiple vocalists, the songs were heavy on live instruments, horn sections, massive harmonies with lots of singers, etc.

Then by the time you get to the mid 80's and the "Word Up" era, it's literally just three people in the band, because the sound had changed, heavy on drum machines, sequencers and synths and you didn't need all the folks that were there before.

If you're looking for a few suggestions as to what to check out next, some of my all time faves are:

- Flirt
- I Just Want To Be
- Sparkle
- Pretty Girls
- She's Strange
- Back & Forth
- Attack Me With Your Love
- Single Life
- Style

Also, 2Pac sampled the fuck out of them. You probably already clocked that "All About U" is based on "Candy" but he sampled loads more as well, as did many other hip-hop acts.

I finally got to see Cameo live last December, but unfortunately it was a slightly disappointing experience, but not due to the band. It was at a festival in LA, and the act before them (which was SOS Band, another fantastic band who I recommend) had technical difficulties and had to stop for 20 minutes or so to fix the issues. This meant that Cameo only ended up playing for 10 minutes instead of 30, and I guess they made the executive decision to go with the hits since it was a festival. They played..... "Candy" and "Word Up" lol

Luckily though, there's a festival happening literally down the street from me here in July, which is a funk/r&b festival which in previous years has had Public Enemy, Chaka Khan, Parliament Funkadelic, The Jacksons, and Earth Wind& Fire perform. And Cameo are on the bill this year! Hoping to buy tickets this week and I'll get to see a full set from them that's almost literally in my backyard!

I'll have to give a listen to the rest of their stuff on Spotify. I figured I was just hearing their hits because it was featured in a TV show or played by a marching band. It has to be songs people know for those to work.

Anyone have a nice, ergonomic office chair? I am looking to furnish an office with one and I didn't realize the more popular recommendations from review sites were chairs that started around $1000 and only went up from there.

Any experience with Herman Miller, Steelcase, Haworth, etc.?
