I have a confession to make - while you're out doing dad and boyfriend things, and being a wonderful part of society, I study, do my homework, read into this shit like a desperate housewife clinging to tabloids. Good on you pal. :D
Don't presume to know what I do. The more I talk to you, the more certain I am that you're 15 years old....

I bought the Herman Miller Embody once I started working from home full time. I found places that stock the chairs I was looking at and went and sat in them, no way I'm spending that much on a chair before trying it, so I suggest you do the same. When it came time to buy I saw someone mention to contact an authorized dealer in your area and it will be cheaper, sure enough it was 1700ish through the HM website and 1200ish through the dealer. I had to pay a freight fee for delivery but it was only an extra hundred.

lol I also came back to say that your name and "Aeron" sound the same and you should've just gotten that.

I looked in to what you said a bit more about an authorized dealer vs HM themselves. The HM subreddit says the same too. The Aeron I specced out for my dad was $1600 but I figured it was an investment in his comfort for the next decade, at least, but people are saying they go similar discounts like you did.

I feel it's going to add some time (some chairs take 5+ months) but it might be worth it if it's just 4-8 weeks to get it for several hundred cheaper. It turns out DWR is basically a simp for HM so their prices mirror HM's website but only HM's website offers the 30 day return. DWR and other authorized dealers do not have a return policy at all so that could be risky if something isn't what we expected.

I have 4 designers in the Chicago area that are HM authorized so I'll send some emails out and see if they can order two chairs for a decent discount. Otherwise I'll just get it from HM and be done with it. I'm really hoping the wait time isn't 4+ months like the HM website says for the more expensive chairs. Brushed aluminum bases alone seem to add 4 weeks to the shipping time.

Elongated Muskrat buying Twitter. It'll be interesting to see what he does to it and if it's really as bad as some people are making it out to be.

Trump supposedly said he wouldn't return if he was unbanned and would stick to his new "truth" platform.

At this point I feel like he's throwing billions just to become the world's biggest troll.

Also, didn't know crazies had their own platforms now. Maybe this will make Facebook cleaner again.

Elizabeth Holmes should buy Facebook, with everyone else's money.

Twitter saw mass deactivations and huge fluctuations in follower numbers for some of the platform’s highest-profile users in the days after Musk for men agreed to a takeover deal. People like Obama and Katy Perry lost hundreds of thousands of followers, while right-wing nut-jobs gained. Yet it'll take about a year for the deal to be finalized and Musk can make any changes. Meanwhile, Tesla shares have sunk, wiping out $125 billion in value.

I don't know if a less stringent policy on abuse is going to change much. Everything is already being said on there now. He also wants to get rid of spam bots as much as possible, which might be a good thing. We'll see. There's more important bad things coming to worry about than Twitter

No. It's brain fog snowflakes or lying gatekeepers. The rest of us don't care what Tweeter does.

The dude wants to build factories on mars. I repeat, Musk wants to build factories on mars.

Comes on here telling us only 'snowflakes' and 'lying gatekeepers' care about what happens to Twitter.

Also lists out every issue the right wing have had with Twitter.... Seems some people care more than they let on

I'm still going to use Twitter. As I've mentioned many times before, I follow news of all sorts on there, be it gaming, auto, sports, or world news. It's better than Google Reader was ten years ago and it's so simple. I rarely ever read the comments and the comment section on any social media platform usually has a few good posts and then a bunch of garbage, so Twitter isn't unique in that sense. Lots of people still love to dump on Twitter for being the worst but I find that it reflects upon who they choose to follow.

I still have questions about Elon buying it and what the results will be as far as who gets to spout their nonsense and how dangerous it will be, but I still think I can box myself in with just the people I choose to follow and see no difference there.

You want to see moderation chaos? Go to Reddit. Again, I follow mostly niche subs, usually sports and tech related stuff so the comments still get to the level of cancerous but if you venture out to News or Worldnews (the former from which I was recently banned), then you can start to see the bots come out and the astroturfing.

I think we see Reddit die before we see Facebook, Twitter, etc. die. I was there when Digg died and there was a mass exodus to Reddit in 2009 or 2010. I know that crowd can easily be riled up and will make the pilgrimage to a new platform. You saw it happen with Voat and a few other sites, but on a much smaller scale.

Yeah, me too. I'll wait and see what changes he makes, if the deal actually goes through. He's not all one-sided. He hated Trump the man, just liked some of his policies. I just think he'll go broke before long and have to dump it. Hopefully, crypto ads don't take over the site.
