Only 35 more, might as well

Yeah. It wasn't all my money though, some was his. I make a strict point to only spend £60 on his birthday present, unless it is educational. So he had to find the rest from his money. I was reluctant to get him a tablet, but it comes with some rules, so we are both happy.

Samsung has absolutely failed in naming their shit tablets. Pro, Note, S, Tab.... I follow tech a little bit and I still don't know what the fuck all of this means. How would the average consumer?

Off to check their website and see for myself if I can make sense of their 100 lines of tablets.

Also, I'm using CM on my S3. Is there a better ROM out there? I've been to scared and lazy to explore others. I like the familiarity of CM, but I wonder if limiting myself like that has me missing out some more features I'd probably like. I'm all about lean ROMs, but not necessarily lacking in features. Just something that's good on battery and has the few features I use, like bluetooth and wireless tethering. XDA is just a clusterfuck of dead threads.

Also, running CM, do I need a standalone SU app? I feel like a lot of my apps are losing their permissions after the phone goes into deep sleep. Like SetCPU and BetterBatteryStats.

I'm too lazy to do the conversion, but the N7 2013 is $99 here at Staples, on clearance. I thought about it but I've been a shit this whole year in regards to my exams so I'll fuck off until I kill them.

But your kid might like it. If you were in the US.

Long time no see.

I moved to a new fancy apartment and decided to stick with the Galaxy S4, Ipad Air and PC for all home media, connected to everything else I have (displays, tvs, audio system) as my setup. I don't like how limiting using iOS is, but I find the Ipad Air to be the best tablet hardware-wise mainly due to pocketability considering the screen size, that's why. I also prefer the 4:3 screen ratio by far on a tablet and it puzzles me why major Android tablet manufacturers are sticking almost exclusively to 16:9.

Well, that way I am also using all major platforms and not missing out on anything, and I like it.

I'm not a fan of the ongoing stagnation on the smartphone market. Still not many significant changes since last year, Snapdragon 805 barely better than 800, QHD not really impressive, cameras not improving much since 2012, bezels not getting much smaller since the Galaxy S4 and LG G2 etc. Having hopes for the Note 4 though.

I've just bought him one. But that would have been good. I'm in the US in 3 weeks. Hoping a moto 360 is available by then.

I have heard one other person mention the ratio of the iPad (and maybe iOS?) vs the Android tablets. What are the different ratios beneficial for? And why is 4:3 best on tablets?

There's really not much I miss using my jailbroken iPad. Maybe I just don't need too many features to begin with. I'm not sure what others see in Android's "openness" when it comes to features and how they differ to Cydia/Jailbreak features. I can understand JB devices may get the features after Android does, but there are features JB apps, like Automater (I think it's called), where I can set behaviors for specific criteria. Like screen on turns WiFi on and screen off turns it off. When it's on a certain network, I allow auto updates of apps and all that, and when on foreign ones I don't. Stuff like that. I'm sure Android has that, but I've only seen it in the form of Tasker. And fuck that app. That's way too technical and nothing ended up working anyway.

The use of iTunes to put media on there is really not an issue for me. I would rather have drag and drop but because I use OSX and iTunes does fine for me there, it's not that big of a deal. It gets the job done.

I'm really waiting for this iPhone 6 to be revealed/released because I'm giving it some serious consideration. It's going to work well within the OSX ecosystem and I'm most definitely not buying a Windows machine, whenever the time comes. Despite having lower specs compared to its Android counterparts, the iPhones still hold their own. I'm sure that goes for your iPad Air, too.

I believe it's September 4? You can always preorder it from the UK and pick it up at the nearest Walmart or Best Buy or something wherever you're at when you're in the US.

This may sound like a silly question, but these watches are waterproof, right? And if so, to what extent? I understands phones and tablets are different to waterproof (I think), but how certain can I be that if I were wearing one in the rain, or wash my hands multiple times per day, that I'll still have a working watch at the end of the day?

I read a headline somewhere that said that Swatch was frantic because of the popularity of these watches. I'm not sure how elite and prestigious Swatch is compared to Breitling or Rolex or anything, but I would definitely ditch my $100 basic Fossil watch for one of these. Maybe when prices come down a bit and we can see watches as nice as the Moto 360 more commonplace.

I thought Swatch was a kids watch. Like the G Shock watches are also kids watches.

As for waterproof. They aren't "let's go scuba diving" waterproof. More like, "I have submerged it in water for a little white", waterproof.

Oh. Well, I don't know watches well, outside of the ultra high end ones, and that also, just by name.

Maybe Swatch is shit. A quick look at the lineup confirms what you said about them being like novelty/kids watches. Never mind, then.

What are some good XPosed modules to use?

I have one for ads and YouTube ads. I have one to show CPU clock speed on the status bar. And then I have one for disabling the start up of some apps.

Am I missing anything? Seems like a lot of these features are already built in to CM, like the expanded power menu and double tap status bar for screen off.

Lots of new shit at IFA. ASUS Zenwatch, Sony SmartWatch 3 and Smartband Talk, Sony Z3 and Z3 compact, and some other shit.

Also, word is Android L and Android Wear 2.0 are dropping on October 15th. You heard it here first.

Actually I read about the Oct 15th date on a couple different blogs but whatever.

Motorola just won't Android for the time being. The new Moto G and Moto X look like they'll do real well. I'm most likely getting my gf the G, I like the Desire 820 that HTC has coming out but my gf just needs a simple smart phone and at the G's price I can't go wrong with it. I'm finding it very hard not to purchase the 360 today, I want it badly but I think waiting for the next wave of watches is the smart thing to do.
