It's the developer preview but everything seems fine. If it does change I don't think it's to fix anything that's easily noticeable. I'm not lying when I say everything is better. I thought the phone app for KK sucked, having to hit the all contacts button and shit was annoying when it was at the top of the screen and buttons for recents and the dialer was at the bottom, plus the all contacts button didn't match shit, it's like they forgot about it and just stuck it somewhere. Everything is in a quick tab style menu at the top, way more user friendly and sleek looking now. I think the pull down menu is my favorite aesthetic change. It's just clean looking, and the animations are neat. Everything just looks better. This is my favorite Android release in a while.

Are you running it on a Nexus 5?

I read somewhere that this is only available on the Nexus 5 and the Nexus 7 (2013).

I just mapped my whole trip to the UK using my Google locations history. It's great. I had my phone in my backpack everywhere but on airplane mode (CDMA) but it plotted my tube rides, highway traveling, etc. neatly on the map.

Pretty cool.

Did you have your location set to High Accuracy, Battery Saving or Device Only mode?
So now, it's got me thinking.... Is it possible to geo-tag pictures I've taken on my phone whilst it's in Airplane mode abroad?

My Nexus 5 is in for repair.... for the second time. Microphone went on it. Ugh. Since I'm gonna have to set it up from scratch anyway, I might install L on it when I get it back.

Coincidentally, I started playing with this, yesterday. It shows me flying across to Africa etc.

Ever since I got back from my trip, the native browser or Chrome (not sure which one) has my location as somewhere in NY. So I searched for Buffalo Wild Wings yesterday, and it listed the ones in NY. I've been having some other odd location issues too, involving the browser. My weather app, though, works just fine.

Whatever. I've been thinking about leaving CM for a while now and giving another dev a shot. Liquid Smooth is one I've seen a lot on XDA and SlimKat, too. I guess my options are kind of limited on an S3 but I plan on keeping this thing for a while longer so whatever works until then.

Has anyone ever requested a femtocell device from their carrier to improve service?

I'm thinking about doing that with Sprint because our house is almost a dead zone. It's shit for data and voice calls constantly drop in certain areas of the house.

It's because of the woodlands surrounding us, but it really prevents us from using our phones to the max. Just wanted to see if anyone has had experience with it.

Turns out Sprint gives them out for free if you complain enough. Uses broadband somehow to boost the signal for voice and 3G in your house.

Just went ahead and flashed a corporate PRL that allows us Sprint users to roam on VZW towers as well. It was working really well the past few days but today it's been a bit shit. But I may just stick with that.

What Twitters do you follow for up to date tech news? I'm hesitant to go the Engadget or Gizmodo route because it would just flood my timeline with stuff I don't care about. It would need to be more specific, so maybe mobile tech related.

I do follow The Verge and Anandtech for general tech news and then The Average Consumer and Marquis Brownlee for reviews that aren't dry and boring.
I'm sure there are others.

TK Tech News is the new kid on the block for leaks. Picking up where Evleaks left off.

We don't call them femtocells here, but I have a similar device on the Three network here in the UK. Can't get any signal in my new place without it.

Galaxy Alpha. I like the metal. I love the size and weight, it's perfect to me. Shape, more like the Xperia than the 5. I don't mind. Now they only need to combine that with the 4's pixel resolution (or better) and the 5's camera (or better), and they got my business. Come on Galaxy 6.

I just wish it did LTE. The device Sprint gives out does just 3G and voice. Whatever. I'll take it. I've been flashing all sorts of PRLs and they've all been shit.

My son wants a tablet for his 7th birthday. I can pick up a Nexus 7 2012 for £100. Why would I pay extra for the 2013?

Edit - 2012 = £90 2013 = £125

Thought I may as well get the 2013. Not worried about a Nexus 8.

Those are for 32GB. 16GB 2012 is £70.
