Nexus Q hacked to run CM9 and XBMC, inches closer to usefulness

By Terrence O'Brien

The Nexus Q hacks are coming fast and furious now, and inching closer to true usefulness with each one. The latest is easily the most exciting -- a port of full-blown CyanogenMod 9 and XMBC for Android. While the hack was the work of the actual CM team, the Q is not an officially supported device. There are still plenty of quirks and bugs to iron out, but WiFi and Bluetooth are both up and running. If you've got one of the expertly crafted magnesium spheres, there's nothing stopping you from blessing it with a little custom ROM love. Just know that there's still lots of work to do, especially on the XMBC for Androidfront which is still very much in the experimental stage.

CyanogenMod 10 builds start offering sugary sweets to Samsung Galaxy S III users

By Daniel Cooper

Early builds of CyanogenMod 10 have sprung up to enable users to get that buttery-smooth Jelly Beanexperience onto your Samsung Galaxy S III. Work is further along on the international edition of the quad-core CPU, while the US variants are still in need of some work. That said, if you're determined to free yourself from the watery shackles of Nature UX, you can get started right away -- but it might not be all that polished just yet.

It's getting close.....!

Cousin got Jelly Bean update on his GNex today. Sent me an IM saying that it appears his phone has taken some amphetamines :) Every aspect of the OS is noticeably faster/smoother.

Looking forward to some CM10 builds on the S2.

so yeah umm...

how about those nexus phones, google? played with the GSIII last sunday. it was fast and all but i wasn't excited by the look at all. it feels too big for how light it is. that's kinda what i think aron means. it does feel plasticky.

I picked up the GS3 yesterday since my phone was on it's last leg, and I switched providers. Needless to say, the phone is on goddamn steroids. It doesn't feel plasticky to me at all (either way, don't you put a plastic case around it?) Very happy with it, smooth as silk.

I find it feels nice and lightweight to me. Haven't gotten any brick-like comments though, but the screen (and it's size) is sure loved by everyone.

FUCK NO I DON'T. If you can't live with the normal wear and tear that comes with owning a phone for two-three years, then keep it safe in your vagina because that's what you probably have.

I HAVE BUTTERFINGERS.

Actually it's not the scratches on the frame and such that bothers me. I dropped my Captivate during a drunken stumble and the glass shattered. I'm a stumbler, whaddya want?

YEAH, BITCH... MAGNETS... OHHHHHHHH.

Covers are for little kids or stupid people who get talked in to buying them. They're big and bulky and ugly. Even screen protectors are pretty dumb. Just take care of your shit lol
