let's do this again

I know for a fact if I had to kill an animal for myself I wouldn't eat meat. Mostly b/c I'm a pussy like that.

That being said, since May I have upped my veggie and fruit intake a thousand fold. I can see how you feel lighter on your feet w/o meat. Since I've stopped eating fast food, junk food and drinking pop I feel much better than i ever have in my life. Now, I know everyone says this and no one else believes it, and I think this is because you don't realize it until you adjust your diet. The only meat I eat these days is chicken and fish, usually tuna, cod, pickeral, that kinda shit. I have the goal of becoming a vegetarian, but that goal is getting put on hold until i graduate.

I want to say 99% of you feeling better is because you stopped eating junk food, especially soda, and started eating healthy. Eating less meat helps for sure though.

I'm not gonna go google anything to find out. I'll wait for Casey, or someone else, to come in and refute my opinion with links then I'll read a little bit of something. Usually that "research" is way off base though, ridiculously high intake amounts etc. Chicken and fish are delish lol

I eat as much junk as I used to coz Im always on the run. I have pizza like once a week, and Burger King once or twice a week (they have a Vegetarian burger here). I drink lots of soda too unfortunately.

So I dont really eat healthier, I just dont eat meat, and feel a lot better.

I do eat a lot of stir fry, Indian or Asian dishes too, which I always have though.

Its not like I am eating steamed veggies every meal of the day, not at all. My eating habits havent really changed, I just removed meat.

I only take a protein supplement to work out with, along with Creatine, but would do so regardless if I ate meat or not.

Don't most vegetarians have to take protein supplements anyway. What do you guys eat for protein. I know the amount of meat most people eat is a lot more than we need but then I have read most vegetarians dont get enough.

It’s a total myth that vegetarians don’t get enough protein, unless they happen to also be anorexic, or they're teenagers who only eat bagels or cup of noodles. If you eat a variety of fruits, vegetables, grains, and legumes, then getting enough protein is not an issue and never has been. What is an issue in the Western world is getting too much protein. Too much protein from meat-based diets is associated with diseases like heart disease, high blood pressure, cancer, arthritis, osteoporosis, gout, kidney stones, and so on.

The reason one feels lighter and more energetic giving up meat is that meat is not easily digested. It’s protein dense and requires more acid and enzyme secretion to digest, overworking the pancreas. Since it contains no fiber, it sits in the gut a long time where it starts to putrefy, giving off large amounts of nitrogen-based by-products like urea and ammonia, which can cause a build-up of uric acid. Too much uric acid can lead to stiff joints and gout. The saturated fat in meat is also difficult to digest. It sludges the blood and slows down circulation.

I never heard of TOO much protein before. But, I guess one can get too much of everything, right?

For those say, you feel light and stuff.

I eat meat (not by choice) I can't really afford food. I eat w/e my mom gives me right now...but I feel light.

Lately though, I've been getting more tired and shit. BUT i've been working out more too. Taking in Protein every other work out. (I tend to forget).

I seem to sleep and don't feel rested. Is that b/c of my diet change? (Note: I haven't been eating THAT much more meat, just a lil more than usual).

I do tend to drink water more than Soda, unless they give me a combo from, say, Burger King or something.

Well, come to think of it a few months ago I was really busy at university - I've spent there most of my time and used to eat everything there.
My favorite meal there is called "mexican pancakes" - pancakes with some vegetables inside and ketchup. I used to eat it almost everyday.
Except that I had toasts, casseroles, soups and various other similar things since there are almost no meals with meat in them at our university.
So you could say that for about 3 months I was a vegetarian but wasn't aware of that till now.
Then come to think of it there are times when I just don't feel like eating meat because I don't want to, I'd rather eat something else. I'm not even aware of that till I think about it.

Just curious... what kind of meat is in a regular peanut butter chocolate cake? Is there a certain ingredient that maybe includes the fat or something of an animal in the regular one? Just curious.

lol..umm milk? :p

It was a vegan cake that Synful posted a pic of, ARon, so as masta says, no milk.

My wife made vegan brownies the other day, using tofu. We ate them with soy-based ice cream and rice-based whipped cream. It was delicious.

Learn something new every day! I didn't even know this! :) Thanks!

Yet our teeth are flat as opposed to pointy and sharp and thus are better at grinding plants and grains than tearing meat, and our long digestive tracts resemble those of herbivores. We secrete a special enzyme designed to break down plant foods. Carnivores, on the other hand, have no such enzyme and possess short digestive tracts for getting rid of meat quickly before it putrefies. So, we can eat meat but we are better designed for plant foods and not the other way around.

I never said we were carnivores, did I now?

If we weren't really "supposed" to eat meat, we wouldn't be able to.

Being able to digest plant food better than meat doesn't take away anything from my point, which is veggies twisting this fact to suit their moralistic agenda.

Humans are able to eat anything, that doesnt mean we should. Using your argument, just because you are able to eat dirt, bark, human waste, etc, you should?

Actually you're able to eat human meat, it's supposed to taste like chicken, so why don't you?

Working out should give you more energy.

How many times a week do you work out? Dont over do it, work out a split three day routine if you are bulking up.

It definitely is your diet. Food is our fuel, and the body performs based on the type of fuel you give it.

Im guessing because you rely on your parents cooking you eat two or three big meals a day right? This puts a toll on your body, and doesnt help with work outs either.

If you are running out of energy it means you arent eating enough of what you should be eating.

Try eating five smaller meals throughout the day, this is what the adult male should be eating.

Work out how much energy you burn on workout days and make sure to match it with your intake.

Just listen to your body, it knows what it needs. If you are hungry or out of energy, eat a high energy low fat meal, and aim to eat about 5 times a day. Smaller meals. It is so simple and it really works. If you eat a big dinner, split it into two meals separated by at least 2 hours. Have the veggies first, and the meat last if you are eating meat, as two separate meals.

Eat smaller meals throughout the day too, like some fruit, nuts, a can of tuna if you must eat meat, etc etc.

Soda isnt great for you, but drinking it wont kill you. People put too much emphasis on Soda being bad. Yes, drink a lot of water, ESPECIALLY if you work out (and even more so if you use creatine which I recommend). Soda just makes you fat. But you can function and have energy on it, and you can burn that fat off if you are active so dont stress over a glass a day its no big deal.

I guarantee if you do this you will feel better instantly.

If you are working out, get a good tri-creatine into you. With Tri-Creatine you dont need to load and so it wont kill your liver. Just take your dose 30 mins before working out, and instantly after with a high sugar drink for quicker absorption, and then first thing in the morning with a protein powder the next morning. FIRST THING, it is when your body needs it most.

But yes, if you lack energy, you're not eating enough. Eat more often, smaller meals, and you'll feel great again. Ive recently been doing this and wow the difference is amazing.

When I gave up meat I felt so much better, but now it feels normal because I am used to it, but now eating 5 smaller meals a day makes me feel so much better too.

I take a pea based protein powder because I am bulking up.

If I wasnt hitting the gym Id be fine.

Good sources of Protein: Beans, lentils, eggs, "real" yogurt, chick peas, bread, hard cheeses, milk (I dont drink milk but am not vegan, so I drink Soy Milk, just as good protein wise), green vegetables like spinach and broccoli, nuts, seeds, etc etc.
