I am the same with soda. A can a day, at least. And usually with a meal, but I've gotta cut that out. I didn't drink soda on the island either. It was all just water for me, and that was partially because of how retardedly hot it was. Coke I picked up once I got home and had access to a car and the gas station down the street. 79 cents for a Big Gulp is never a bargain when your health is taken into account.
Water really is amazing. I have a Brita jug next to me on my desk at all times, so if I'm reading, I at least drink water that way.
Speaking of water, has anyone tried the Klean Kanteen cups? Not the bottles or thermos, just the cup, which is like, $10 each. Metal cup that I'm thinking about buying to use as a cup on the island. It's durable and may not need to be cleaned as much. Since I'll be drinking water in it, it won't need to be cleaned daily if I leave it on my table or something. Or is that still nasty? If I put juice or milk in it, then I'd wash it afterwards. But more importantly, it would keep my drink cold and be a durable cup which won't break if dropped on my hard floor or in my suitcase there and back. Better than using a plastic, disposable cup for days at a time for water.
