The Knicks may not be able to move up and get the No. 2 pick in Thursday's draft, so instead it looks like they're settling on a former No. 2 pick. The bad news: He's probably the most infamous No. 2 since Sam Bowie.
According to a report on ESPN.com, the Knicks are close to acquiring forward Darko Milicic from the Memphis Grizzlies in exchange for Quentin Richardson. Milicic's contract expires at the end of next season, which would clear some cap space for the monster 2010 free agent class.
Milicic, of course, is known for being the ill-advised choice of Larry Brown, Joe Dumars and the Detroit Pistons in the 2003 NBA draft. The Pistons selected Milicic second overall, after LeBron James, passing on Carmello Anthony, Chris Bosh and Dwayne Wade.
If the trade goes through, Milicic, who's owed $7.5M this season, will find himself on his fourth team in seven years in the NBA. Only 24-years-old, the Serbian-born seven-footer averaged 5.5 points and 4.3 rebounds per game for the Grizzlies last season.
