“As much as people talk about my age, I think I can still play at a high level,’’ said Jason Kidd. “Maybe three more years.’’
That's not just J-Kidd issuing his comments during Thursday's Exit Interviews; that's also Jason Kidd lauching his contract negotiations with the Mavs and any other suitor. We offer up Exit Interview Quick Takes – complete with AUDIO at the AAC – this one from Jason Kidd.
Here’s J-Kidd in his own words:
*On wanting to remain in Dallas: “I'm not looking at it as … hitching on a bandwagon and jumping on with a team that's a favorite. I'm looking to help a team try to win a championship. Whether it's here in Dallas or wherever it may be, I still feel that I have a lot to give to the game."
*On considering other teams as a free agent: “I want to compete. … If they are looking at my age then that would eliminate that team … I'd love to win a title. But you can pick the favorite for next year and then things could go sideways.’’
*On his age: “As much as people talk about my age I think I can still play at a high level, maybe three more years.’’
*On the state of the Mavs: “I think we're happy with the growth. … but it ended sooner than we wanted. … You look at Denver, LA, Cleveland, they are all healthy. … We had a good bench. Now each guy needs to bring something from the summer. … We never fragmented. … I have great teammates here. … We'd love to come back and win in Dallas.’’
*On his immediate plans: “I know I want a vacation.. … that's all I know.’’
