The key thing that "cannibalox" seems to not understand is that Richards' comments weren't intended to be funny. The comments were in retaliation with the purpose of offending the persons who said he wasn't funny. The comments came across as funny because he's a comedian.

How do you know this? I've seen many stand ups when someone interrupts they keep the comic flow, that's what he was doing. He was being a comedian with honesty spewing out of his mouth, stop going against his actions.
