But Gianluigi Buffon didn't save a single penalty either.

Just wanted to make it even. I like Buffon. He is the best GK at the moment. :thumb:
true. i think it was more about the players' tactics then the GK's talents.

Agreed, but France only dominated possession. They couldn't get the ball passed Buffon on anything but Zidane's PK. I don't seem them getting a winner with guys they had on the field, and there's no way they were going to win on PK's period. Barthez was fucking horrible.
That's one thing I agree on, Barthez was horrible, I was even telling my brother that Coupet should have been in for the penalties.

yeah it was a penalty. but the penalty at the beginning of the game changed the whole mood of the game. anyways yeah the fact that the ref didnt make a 2nd penalty out of gattuso's obstruction made it fair. if he would have made a 2nd penalty i would have been fucking pissed..
:p Yep, without that 7th minute penalty, it would change the whole outcome of the game alright, even Materazzi goal would not be there, but I think we better leave it at that before we predict something else. :)

Peace~

Zidane leaving is not the reason for Frances loss, I dunno who would blame him, but that's just a scapegoat. Trezeguet would miss his shot Zizou being there or not.

Italian have a history of controversy so it's hard for people to take them serious, especially since their first 2 world cups in the 30s have been seen as being 'fixed' by Mussolini and there has been facts to back that one up and alot of people will remember the controvery surrounding 1982 with Rossi being put back into the lineup when he was clearly not allowed to. (He scored 2-3 goals to win the world cup that's why), so you can't blame people to have mixed feelings about the Italian team.
Oh, there it is..Is there more left to say there?Keep on keepin on.No hate from here.

Oh for sure. Coupet would've been a better choice for penalty shootouts. Barthez looked like a midget when they showed that view of him standing in front of the goal.

Even at full dive, he probably would struggle to reach one of the goal post.

Peace~

Who said I felt that way? I'm stating the facts people give me to their hate. Please Bachaveli, don't act like you know my views. I was supporting Italy during World Cup 94 when nobody else would. At times the Italian team does piss me off, but every team does that.

Yeah, but Buffon's problem was guessing wrong. Even when Barthez guessed the right corner, he couldn't stop it.

As a goalkeeper point of view, I think if you were sent the wrong way, that is a bigger issue than for not being able to reach a well positioned corner shot. Either way, both are flaws. :)

Barthez couldn't stop it because he is way too short in height and reach. Did you see the front view of him getting ready for the penalties? :p

If the TV zoomed out, I bet he looks like a baby from long range.

Peace~

Oh, alright then. My mistake, I thought you were pointing me out so sorry about that. Show them pics I'm curious to see. I didn't take any around here, but there's some of little Italy being packed here. I'll try and find some.

Yeah, but sooner or later Buffon is going to start catching on. Barthez isn't going to grow any or get any quicker.

Here's a question for you guys...

Do you prefer the extra time rule, or the old time golden goal rule? There are good arguments for both..

I'm curious to know what 'yall think. I'm heading to bed now, so I'll check it out tormorrow what was said.

All I can say is, expect more of an attacking football rather than sitting back and waiting for the penalty shootout, right after extra time, so golden goal rule can be good sometimes.

I'm not sayin what he did was justifiable, personally I cant figure out why he did it. But I dont consider trash talking any better, I mean if your going to play a game beat your opponent with skill not personal insults. When I play basketball I cant even think about talkin shit to the other team, it doesnt even enter my head so I guess thats why I consider what the Italian did wrong too, but its not suprising either.

So what do you think players should do? Maybe all the players on the park could be gagged so they cant talk? You dont find trash talking any better than slamming your forehead into someones chest:confused:

This is football folks! Players wind eachother up.

Just curious, would you say it is acceptable if footballers uses the form of racism to wind each other up during games? I would think that they would keep it professionally rather than personal.

Peace~

But how can you possibly prove somebody has been racist towards you other than other people hearing it? It's one guys word against anothers.

How many footballers get charged with racism on a football park per year? Im cant remember any at all! This has only become an issue cuz it was the world cup final, even though everbody is just speculating.

I was only asking if you can accept someone who uses racism to wind up a football game.

I wasn't referring to the Zidane / Materazzi incident bud, because I know what has been reported, has all been nothing but rumours.

Peace~
