What is your idea of the afterlife?

I'm a Christian Orthodox and I believe in Heaven, but still, I think, when you die, it's just like eternal sleep without dreams.

(as you know, the brain supplys enough electricity as a couple of batteries).
Actually, from what I remember, the brain runs on 0.5 volts or 0.05 volts. But combined with a form of fusion, I'm sure the machines can find all the energy they will ever need.

in islam if a child died at birth he or she will no doubt go to heaven since that child was born sin free according to islamic teachings, however in christianity everyone is born in sin and if a child died at birth he/she is foredoomed to hell according to christian priciples, no offence to the christians on this board and if im wrong plz correct me

if someone dies young in christian belief then they do go to heaven but tha age is around 10 and younger maybe and in my belief everyone is born with sin

so a buddhist monk who has done nothing wrong in life and tried his best to be the best person he could be inside and out is going to "burn in hell forever" because he wasnt baptised huh? Sorry i just dont believe that. G-d is supposed to be forgiving. For someone who didnt do anything wrong in their life, but was born into a life where they were raised by relatives who didnt believe in Christ, i find it hard to accept their going to burn.

good works aren't gonna get you into heaven......you have to accept God as your Saviour.......and no you don't have to be baptised........doesn't matter how good you were in life if you aren't saved then your going to hell

if you are young and die then you automatically go to heaven........no one knows how young you can be but it's around 10 or something like that
a) Where have you got this idea from?
b) Where have you got the figure of 10 from?
c) By the age of 10, someone can already be a bad person. Why should they go to Heaven just because they're quite young?
d) Why kill people at a young age? Why doesn't God just let them live so they can prove they're worthy of going to Heaven?

So why doesn't God make it clear which religion is "right" and which is not? How can you worship a God who would punish perfectly kind and benevolent people just because they were taught the wrong religion?

I am saying IF there is a God then how does this happen.

As I don't believe in a higher power, I see that man is responsible for what man does, but those who believe in a higher power often believe that that power is in control of everything or, at least, Judgement Day, the Rapture and whatnot, so if 'it' has so much power how come such shitty things happen?

they are called trials and everyone goes through them to see how strong their faith is, to see that they can still believe in God and when you see tha tsunami that might be a sign of "the end times" which is very scary stuff because in the end times things will get very bad. more earthquakes happening every day and other things getting worse

like i said no one knows tha age. all we can do is guess. but at 4 years of age your not xpected to know who God is or understand how to accept him as your Saviour so if they die then God brings them to heaven and the age might be 4, 5, or 6. i'm just saying no one knows

no one is perfect, only God is. i dont' really know why he doesn't say his religion is right. if we could understand God then we would be God and none of us will truly understand everything

sounds good to me... hopefully this is the nice sort of send off time between dying and being gone forever... kinda like feelin in a dream

Exactly. People've got this twisted idea that their 'loving' God loves them and them only, and if you don't bow down to Him you will burn in hell and suffer eternal pain.

That was only ever put in the Bible to control people. It's a fact that various people of power (be that higher ranking religious scholars or the wealthy) chose what was included in the Bible and what wasn't, basically censoring the so called 'words of God' in a time when chauvinism and discrimination was particularly rampant.

I couldn't honestly tell you that I know the same is said in the Qu'ran or any other holy books but much of the Bible is a load of...... poppycock!

'Trials' and 'tests of faith' are nothing but control mechanisms and I put this to you;

Who would your God rather allow into Heaven

a) He who lives morally because he believes in God and fears punishment

b) He who lives morally because he believes in equality, justice and love

Everyone is entitled to their opinion ok, but judgement day will come so I hope you find the right religion before it's too late because these people that think nothing happens after you die and that after you die you turn into an animal or another person then you have something coming because it is nothing like that. There is no "bowing" down to God, you just pray to him and thank him for dying on the cross for you and everyone else. Hell is eternal and there is nothing you can do to get out of it so I recoment you find the true religion.

And I would recommend you actually sit down and think about what you believe in and why you believe in it. A never-ending life of bliss and perpetual happiness after you die? Doesn't that seem a bit too good to be true? Doesn't that sound like someone somebody would imagine to make themselves and/or others feel better? I'm sure I'm not going to convert you or convince you of anything, I think only you can do that. Just don't waste this life expecting there to be another one waiting for you after you die.
