Yea but Italians are known for their defensive play so its easy to pick on them.
The Italian NT or the clubs?
If speaking about the clubs then I can give you a little short-summary of the 90s history.
During 90-95 when Milan dominated with their "invincible team" as they called it, they played a defensive game. But, not really, they played for results only. What's the difference? The simple difference is that if you play defensive you always have 10 men or less behind the ball (kind of like Pool tonight). But if you play for results you can attack to you get the result you want. The current Milan-team is VERY good at it. I'm sure you watched the Milan-Man utd games. If so you know what I mean by this. So in no means it's defensive.
But for the sake of it we can still call Milan a defensive team during this period cause they usually won games with 1-0, (although in the final of CL they beat Barca with 4-0 ).
Then we have the other italian team Juve. Juves history in Serie A isn't half as good as in Europe. Juve along with Benfica has lost most finals in CL
. Anyway, even in Serie A juve is known for playing defensive.
Inter have been very fun to watch during 90's era with the great players like Ronaldo at his best form, Zamorano, Djorkaeff and alot more. The boringness came when Cuper took over.
Then we have the other italian teams that have randomly been in CL and these teams haven't played the football of defensive. These teams I'm talking about are Lazio,Roma,Parma,Sampdoria etc.
So by all means, italians get crusified whenever they try to defend to get the result. The Italian NT is another thing and should to no extent be compared to the clubs cause each club has their own philosofy.
