Eminem's new album..

songs ive listened to the most so far

Hello - i listened to this track for two days straight on repeat and still can't follow it word for word

Medicine Ball - the christopher reeve impression/diss is funny

Old Times Sake - a track i think is about Em's way at poking fun at Dre for being old(er), but also about their lasting collaboration

3 AM - ive grown to like this track

Bagpipes from baghdad - i heard the eminem interview on radio 1 with dj tim westwood and Em went into detail explaining the song, here's a snippet of the interview if you missed it:
Same Song and Dance - the latest track i have been listening to a lot, i like the hook "you aint never gonna brake that glass, the windsheilds too strong for you, same song and dance"

some people don't seem to get the use of Eminem's accents, but i like the way that he plays around with words and their inflections in a disseminating way

Em is 36 and is rapping in some weird, nasally comical accent; whilst @ the same time trying to rehash the shock-value lyrics that made him famous when he first came out. I dunno.. i just thought, that after all this time - not only this 5 years he's been dormant - but the 10 years he's been around, he would have at least progressed and evolved more as an artist...as a musician. No doubt his lyrical ability is still fresh, and he can definitely string together some phenomenal words. He definitely sounds hungry. But this album is a let down for me. It kind of sounds like the songs that didn't make the cut on the Eminem Show or something.

The guy isn't 26 anymore.

I also think it's a little bit interesting that some people here were somewhat disappointed there "wasnt a song about kim".

seriously?

wouldnt you want to hear something else?

do you confuse art with reality, many people criticize art and compare it to the artist personally, as if there is meant to be a relation between the two ...

I actually was disappointed there wasn't a song and kim references. Although I can definitely understand the argument on the other side, I guess I've just grown accustomed to expecting/anticipating these types of songs and although I do like this album (it's good but nothing great by any means) I would be much happier if there were more serious, angry Eminem songs and less Shady accent songs.

This is true.

He has progressed, especially as a musician. His way with words is better than ever and his flow is better than ever. His ear for music is better than ever when it comes to destroying a beat.

However, that hasn't translated into great content. He hasn't progressed as an artist in terms of content.

The difference between him and say, Jay-Z, right now is that Jay-Z at that point of his career came and said:

"I did this and that back in the day, look at me now. I learned things"

Eminem is saying, "I'm still doing this and that."

I CANNOT believe Royce made a comparison between what the Black Album was for Jay and what Relapse is for Eminem. The Black Album was classic. Relapse is not.

Well yeh.. like i said, in terms of lyricism, he is phenomenal. But maybe i was holding my hopes too high in expecting Em to work some new formula into his music, instead of regurgitating essentially the same shit he has been doing for 10 years now.

It's a tired formula and it needs to be reworked. It sounds too uninspired to me. He has the ability to do something great but he's staying too conservative.

By formula i mean the whole ;

Parody Song + Sadistic songs + Stan-like song

Ultimately he's trying to gauge the same response he received when SSLP and MMLP came out. It even worked with Encore, when everyone went on his nuts about satirising Michael Jackson...but now, no body really gave a shit about what he was saying in We Made You.

It's like damn man, let that shit go and try something else out.

Record sales doesn't mean the album is good. Yeah all the fans figured it would not be a horrible annoying album since he put out good music in the past.

^Are you going to tell me this album is trash? Because it is not. It's not his best material, but it's not his worst. Go back in your hole with your underground rappers.

I'm telling you it is. I like Eminem's older shit but this is just plain horrible except for beautiful and stay wide awake. Notice those tracks don't have that annoying ass voice from a 40 year old man? I don't listen to any underground rappers and I don't even listen to a ton of hip-hop anyway. I open up my mind to all types of music not just hip-hop. Also, what's up with dude on 106 and park?? Please tell me.

^jeremy is just a bitter old man. And an idiot to boot.

The fuck does his age or him being on 106 and Park have to do with his music?
