Got this info off my friend, not sure how reliable it is, but i checked imdb and it seems correct.

On January 29, 2008, Variety reported that Michael Bay and his Platinum Dunes production company would be rebooting the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise.[35] Producers Brad Fuller and Andrew Form told ShockTillYouDrop.com that they hoped to begin shooting the film as early as Spring of 2009.[36] Samuel Bayer was contacted to direct. The Risky Business Blog hosted by The Hollywood Reporter confirmed Robert Englund will not reprise the role of Freddy.[37]

Heard about it.
The Nightmare on Elm Street reboot has finally found itself a director!

The Michael Bay-owned Platinum Dunes production company, the peeps behind the remake, has put their faith in music video director Samuel Bayer. Bayer is responsible for such iconic vids as Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit and Blind Melon's No Rain.

Producers Brad Fuller and Andrew Form had said in an interview that they sought a director who could visually blend the conscious and the subconscious. Sounds like Bayer's resume fits the bill!

Another challenge to the filmmakers is filling the role of Freddy Krueger himself, since the original's Robert Englund will not be returning.

Sounds like they're on their way to making a worthy reboot!

They signed that no name director who only produced music videos. Doesn't feel good at all.

I've known about this movie for a while. This movie will be complete utter shit without Robert Englund. Like Prize Gotti said, NOBODY will EVER be Freddy besides Robert Englund.

Shit..

really,

WHY??

there is like 8 sequels of that movie, do we need a reboot?
the only good one was the original movie anyway, just like the Friday the 13th and Halloween, they all sucked when they made sequels.

this movie might be alright, you gotta remember Englund isnt no spring chicken anymore.

get 50 to play a black Freddy, that would be good to reboot the franchise. (LOL)

Hmmm strange move picking Sam Bayer. However, given the incredible kick-ass-ness of the 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' video.....let's see what he can do.

No Robert Englund is weaksauce though.

Hmmm The guy that's directing has done mostly music videos. Nirvana - Smells like teen spirit lol

This could turn out good or a pile of shit...

I still wish Guillermo del Toro would have done Freddy vs Jason it would have been 10x better

Edward Norton isn't too bad....it would be nice to see him try it out, maybe in a freddy vs jason vs michael myers. That way if he isn't too good he wont ruin the new freddy franchise.

Most people said the same thing for Jack Nicholson as the Joker...and look what Heath did.

Anyway, This is the new rumored Freddy, and I like it. I want to see what he can do with it!

if you go to JoBlo or whatever, they have pics from the set and a pic of him with the hat and stuff.

They picked a great Freddy but no one can replace Englund.

The director has done nothing worth shouting about, just music videos.
