okay, so first of all. when sun first talked with widmore at the end of the previous season, she seemed different. it's like she had a direction. she seemed cold. when he arranges the second meeting, she seems moreso distressed. now the following i picked from another site, but apparently, sun was staying in l.a. for 3 days. peculiarly, this fits very nicely into the event frame window that ben was served by miss hawkings - 70 hours. coincidence? i read a theory on another site, that she is really in cohoots with ben. she doesn't know that ben is the reason the bomb went off, she doesn't know what happened down in the orchid at the end of season 4, when ben stabbed keamy. so why is she blaming ben for the death of her husband? it just makes no sense. could it be that ben also sent those lawyers to kate's house? to get her on the run so she would be easier to persuade to go back?
one thing i really disliked is what happened to locke. at the end of last season, i figured this season would start with locke leading the others and taking the other beach camp folks into their ranks or something. the fact that he was launched forward by himself, and the fact that he has to die, i don't like it. there's probably gonna be some freaky twist to it, but it was so totally not what i was expecting. which is why i'm sorta still digesting it. i need to rewatch the episodes.
the hurley episode.. oh man.. you asked me what i liked about benjamin S O F I, so i might as well incorporate it into my post. it's difficult to explain, but i like that he's always being coy. you always have to second guess what he's saying. i wouldn't want to live with a person like that, but it's cool to me in a way. like it's cool to be john mcclane and wear a bloodstained dirty t-shirt and a gun holster. it's not realistic, but it's awesome anyway. i watched the show week for week when the character was introduced. in that context, he was a great addition. when you watched the show sofi you had all the episodes, but when i was watching those last six or seven episodes of season two when they held ben captive, it was like a six (or seven) week mind game. in hindsight, i never had so much fun trying to figure out a tv show plot before. anyway, i liked that he was turning. i liked that he was helping the oceanic six. i firmly believed back then that he would turn out a good guy in the end. from recent episodes where you see all these people he is working with ,to make whatever's happening this season happen, it really does look like he's fighting a good fight. when sayid told hurley to never listen to ben, he was speaking out of guilt and despair. his girlfriend was killed, and he spent subsequent years murdering people for ben. ms. hawkings said to ben when asked what would happen if he couldn't gather the six before the 70 hours ran out, "then god help us all". so apparently, more is at stake in ben's game than human lives. sayid doesn't know the larger perspective, and is speaking from a distorted point of view. it's upon this hurley chooses to trust, and gets himself arrested. a big mistake i think. i want the characters on the show to get with the freaking program! anyway, the island is currently skipping back and forth through time. the only way locke can save the island is to get his people back, according to richard. we still don't know what "saving the island" means, but what if what it means is stopping the time anomaly? and if they don't before the 70 hours run out, what happens? the earth implodes? i dunno, but whatever it is, it justifies sayid's killing. i'm very excited to see where all this is going.
expect a longer post when i'm done digesting, lawlawl.
