He had all the good role players in Denver. I'm a fan too, i'm not a hater.

Check it. The losers this offseason:

• David Lee(notes), Trevor Ariza’s agent

His tough talk and chest thumping bought his client, Trevor Ariza, a one-way ticket to post-Yao lottery land in Houston – for essentially the same contract the Lakers were willing to pay him. Way to earn your 4 percent, David.

• The New York Knicks

So, what happened to everyone dying to play for Mike D’Antoni in New York? So far, the AARP free agents – Jason Kidd(notes) and Grant Hill(notes) – used New York as leverage for more money in Dallas and Phoenix.

Now, the shrinking 2010 salary cap makes the chances of luring LeBron James(notes) even less likely. James would have to take even less money to go the Knicks, and there’s little chance New York will have the room for a second max-out free agent. Without it, New York can forget James.

• Lamar Odom

His agent has been desperately trying to find a sign-and-trade around the league, but there’s little there but the Lakers’ offer of $7 million per season. Odom had a terrific playoffs and Finals on L.A’s championship run, but he has few options to make the Lakers raise their offer. Why has Portland so far sat it out with him? It still makes no sense.
Cmon Odom stay with us. Nobody wants you cause you're inconsistent and you eat nothing but candy, but stay. !

Winners:

• Tim Duncan(notes)

Spurs executives Gregg Popovich and R.C. Buford aggressively remade the Spurs into the Lakers biggest challenger again. Now, Duncan, 32, has a legitimate chance to beat Shaq and Kobe to a fifth championship.

Richard Jefferson(notes) gives the Spurs a younger, more athletic scorer and defender. Antonio McDyess(notes) was the Spurs’ top priority in free agency. Perhaps DeJuan Blair’s(notes) knees won’t last a decade in the NBA, but for a minimal second-round investment he could contribute through what’s left of Duncan’s window. They just need Manu Ginobili(notes) to be himself again.

Spurs owner Peter Holt has boldly pushed his franchise into the luxury tax for next season, a small-market owner hell-bent on winning another championship.

• Marcin Gortat(notes)

As a 12-minute-a-game center for the Orlando Magic, Gortat scored himself a five-year, $34 million offer sheet from the Dallas Mavericks. Nevertheless, two sources familiar with Orlando’s plans believe Magic GM Otis Smith is strongly considering to match the offer and keep the 7-footer.

• Joe Dumars and Bryan Colangelo

This was the summer to get the most out of your money in free agency, and the GMs of the Detroit Pistons and Toronto Raptors understood that waiting for 2010 wasn’t the wisest move.

Dumars gets a terrific young core with free agents Ben Gordon(notes) and Charlie Villanueva(notes) and can still use Prince or Richard Hamilton(notes) as chips for a frontline big man. Utah’s Carlos Boozer(notes) still lingers as a possibility.

Colangelo stole Turkoglu out of Portland’s clutches, and then worked a sign-and-trade with Orlando to spare his mid-level exception. Colangelo won’t give up on convincing Chris Bosh(notes) to stay with Toronto.

• Eastern contenders

Despite the bleak economic climate, ownership in Boston, Cleveland and Orlando pushed themselves deep into luxury tax for next season. The arms race in the East escalated with Shaquille O’Neal(notes) to the Cavs, Vince Carter(notes) to the Magic and Rasheed Wallace(notes) to the Celtics. Nevertheless, this has been a summer of the haves and have-nots. Those with a chance to win are going for it, and yet a lot of the NBA is determined to cut costs and spare themselves financial losses.
The east is no longer "weak" except after the 4th seed. So, i take that back, they're still weak.

denver didnt play any D and lacked a true leader til billups came in. in the 4th/crunch time iverson wants the ball and so does melo and then u got my fellow new jersyan jr rippin 33fr 3s lol

knicks r done son... its over. they best just do some nice draft picks like the blazers

odom go to europe

Melo never played to his full potential until Billiups got there, either. Allen Iverson is one of the fifty greatest players of all time, and you speak of him like he was a flash in the pan type player who got lucky and hit the NBA. So you're saying that since Iverson did the majority of the scoring on his team, he isn't as good as Jason Kidd? Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Jason Kidd have Kenyon Martin on that team in New Jersey? AI had who, Derrick Coleman? Gtfo.

Iverson also got older, has back, knee, ankle, etc. problems and obviously a lack of work ethic. I'm not saying he should be the number one option on the team, I'm saying he isn't garbage like most of this thread is trying to say he is.

Ariza disappointed me, he was "soooo happy" to be in his hometown of LA, got more playing time, and then bolts for Houston for an extra $400,000? That won't even buy him a new place in Houston. That's a shame. Houston won't be shit, they have no Yao, no Artest, no T-Mac, they will be trash.

I'm hoping Odom will realize he isn't worth as much as he likes to pretend he is. Sure, he is versatile and a very efficient offensive weapon, but he takes a lot of questionable shots, is hard to coach, and wines a lot. He needs to take a pay cut and stay with the Lakers.

Do you guys think LeBron had anything to do with them taking the tapes? I really don't know...maybe? Because he was a bitch when his team lost, and if he told them to take the tapes, he is really playing out to be a shitty person.

melo actually put up better numbers with iverson than billups. when iverson was with the nuggets, honestly the offense was bad. with all the scoring options they took turns shooting the ball. they didnt play any d til billups got there. iverson cant adapt to other styles in the nba. just look at him with the pistons. the pistons are team orientated and he couldnt get used to the ball movement cuz he played one way his whole career, which is im number 1, option.

jason kidd made the nets. jason kidd got kenyon martin that big ass contract and look what has happened to kenyon since he left jkidd. jkidd gets your team easy buckets unlike iverson. jkidd makes his teammates better, this is a fact. why do u think kobe and lebron want/wanted jkidd so bad on their teams? id rather have jkidd on my team.

i guess ariza wasnt gonna get much playing time with artest their and im sure he assumed odom would resing too. he prob also wanted a bigger role too. i heard he wearing number 1. u know what that means.. t-mac gonna get traded.

i heard lebron called down the nike official to take all evidence away. i lost mad respect for him. hes a baby. even mj and kobe got dunked on, big fuckin deal you crybaby.

obviously iverson aint ring chasin since he wants the grizz to sign him but i was thinkin what if he signs with the knicks? i think he'll do great in the uptempo game and hes still fast thou. knicks will prob win 35 games with him maybe more if everyone stays healthy. curry supposedly dropped 50 pounds! lol what? that makes around 350? lol

knicks mite sneak into the playoffs

yeah i think Iverson finally gave up on chasing a ring, he had hoped at the beginning of last season when he was dealt to the Pistons..he believed he was around a group of experienced guys. he just knew that it wasnt gonna work in Denver, he was hoping for success. but AI and Melo wanted to be the Stars.

what bothered AI was defintley coming off the bench, which he didnt like. he fealt *why should i come off the bench*. and throughout the pistons downfall and the Rise of the Cavs, Celtics, and Magic, AI knew that it was over. what enticed AI to execpt the trade and come to Detroit was the streak of consecutive eastern conference finals appearances. he put himself as the guy to get em back in the finals.

A.I. will probably play at least 3 to 4 more years i imagine. as long as he dont get hurt. he can go to the 1 year in Memphis and see whats available in 2010. he might allign himself up with Lebron or Bosh, Or Wade. and go for his final run for a ring. Who knows only time will tell.

AI was told, don't change your style of play, when he came to Detroit. Michael Curry said that. So people should really stop giving him hell for not adapting.

LeBron is a prima donna. He needs to act like an adult by now.

Iverson aint chasin a ring, you're right, i think he's just trying to save his stumbling career right now.

Check this:

Los Angeles Lakers assistant general manager Ronnie Lester expects the reigning NBA champions to complete a deal with Lamar Odom(notes) early next week, according to the Orange County Register.

Lester told the Register that he heard the Lakers' offer was now a "little north of 8 million" a year. It is believed that Odom is seeking at least $10 million a season, but the Lakers reportedly offered $7 million.

Another Lakers forward – Adam Morrison(notes) – is also expected to return next season. Barring a trade, Morrison and his guaranteed contract could leave Sun Yue(notes) as the odd-man out in GM Mitch Kupchak's maximum roster of 13 players.
So yak, you really gonna stop watching basketball? lol, you know there's always a seat for you in the wagon during the playoffs. hahaha.

Peace

Rockets guard Tracy McGrady will change his uniform number to No. 3 to promote his ‘3 points Darfur’ initiative, with an announcement expected early this week.
McGrady put in the paper work for the uniform change midway through last season and had received league approval. He was making the switch to his high school number to bring attention to his ‘Darfur Dream Team’ campaign and ‘3 points’ documentary,
Newly acquired Trevor Ariza will wear No. 1, but could not show the uniform at the press conference last week while details of McGrady’s uniform change were completed.
The "Darfur Dream Team" enlists athletes to help raise funds for schools in Chad for Darfur refugees in a sister school program with schools in the United States. The documentary ‘3 Points" follows McGrady on his trip to Sudan and Chad in the summer of 2007

Yea, pippen should have retired soon after Jordan left. He had a good season with the Blazers and almost got to the finals when the Lakers got their first championship. That was one of the best series i have ever seen.

Yak can you get a hold of Game 7? Where the infamous alley oop Kobe-Shaq happened... best comeback in NBA history.
