The Official NBA Thread 2011-12

Well, it's the finals.. you want to see both teams go at it hand in hand, Both teams at their best, both teams with their best players on the court. Keeping a game plan of drawing fouls from Dwight throughout the game would make the Lakers look puss. That's like doing a hack-a-shaq throughout the Finals. Of course, it's common sense, just like it's common sense to make sure the Lakers defense can close out on the 3 point shooters when Dwight passes it out after a double team.

I think it would be cowardly if the Lakers did that. But then again, whatever helps them win.

Definitely fake.

"Kobe bought his wife a ring,
to make up for being reckless;
But I also got some bling,
When he pulled out his thing and gave me, a pearl necklace."

LMFAO
I love the mocking of Shaq's "Tell me how my ass taste."

You mean Thursday? That's when the finals start. Unless it's Friday in Australia then.

*cough*Lakers.
Hmm.. nope Friday, weird I thought we were ahead of you guys.. Anyway, Friday it is. :)

I'm leaning to Lakers cos of Phil Jackson and Kobe and I've seen more of their games. I dont know, I'll let game 1 decide.:amuse:

You know that Phil Jackson's teams are 43-0 when winning game 1 of any playoff series? haha, you should think about that after game 1.

Was LeBron James(notes) making a fashion statement or a statement about his future when he wore a New York Yankees hat during a press conference Sunday in Cleveland?

James was sporting a grey Yankees cap Sunday when he said he doesn't know if he'll sign a contract extension with the Cleveland Cavaliers this summer, according to the New York Daily News. The choice of baseball caps will cause many members of the Cavs' organization and their fans and continue to fuel speculation that the NBA's reigning MVP will leave his hometown — and perhaps sign with the Knicks — following the 2010 season.
That's fucked. Straight Dissin the team and the city.

The Los Angeles Lakers were not prepared to win a championship against the Boston Celtics last June. However, head coach Phil Jackson says the team will be ready this year, according to the Los Angeles Daily News.

"Really, this issue of being prepared and the preparedness of a team is always what your coaching is about," he said. "Most of the time you want to go to a game and anticipate what they've gone through in practice is what they're going to have to do in a game. But there's nothing like the game.

"I think that's the one thing we're trying accomplish. We felt like last year we weren't quite prepared for the type of game we were going to have to play against Boston. It has nothing to do with Boston as it has to do with the playoffs."
Ready 4 Whateva. Ughhh, i'm so anxious to watch the finals on Thursday.

lmao, i think you're a little too anxious for the finals. I woke up thinking "GOD! ONE MORE DAY! UGH!"

I guess there IS something good about Obama.

WASHINGTON (AP)—OK, Mr. President, let’s see how you do picking the pro game. Barack Obama thinks the Los Angeles Lakers are going to win the NBA crown.

The president was on his way to the Marine One helicopter on the South Lawn on Tuesday when a reporter shouted a question. The topic: Who is going to win the NBA championship, the Lakers or the Orlando Magic?

Said the smiling president: “Lakers in six, I think.” In sports terms, that means the Lakers will win the best-of-seven series in six games. The series begins Thursday.

So far so good this year for Obama. A huge basketball fan, he correctly predicted that that the University of North Carolina men’s basketball team would win the NCAA championship.

Obama was leaving Tuesday on a trip to the Middle East.

Orlando Magic Coach Stan Van Gundy doesn't feel as though it is him against Los Angeles Lakers coach Phil Jackson in the NBA Finals.

"I don't think coaches ever match up," Van Gundy told the Los Angeles Times. "If Coach Jackson and I were out there one-on-one. . . . He was an NBA player and I was a below-average Division III player in college, so my guess is the advantage would go to him.

"[Jackson's] bad hips might even it up a little, but probably not enough to make a difference. The guy has won more playoff series than I have playoff games. I mean, obviously, you're talking one of the greatest coaches, if not the greatest coach, in the history of the NBA, and I'm here for the first time."
