Co-sign Rukas on the rap music industry. Puff, you are living in the 90s and early 2000s. Rap records don't sell like they used to.
I like Dipset, they are entertaining and have good, catchy songs. They have fallen off lately and with the conflict, it looks like all we can rely on is solo efforts.

obviously they aren't selling like they used too. i wrote a whole paper on the issue for a class. the decline in rap music sales wasn't even the point.
the point was that the industry as a whole isn't changing their standards just because rap music isn't selling like they used too, are in a constant state of decline in sales, and what used to be one of the top money makers for the industry has now gone down to the bottom.
rukas can have an opinion that differs from mine and say i am wrong all he wants. i am basing my opinion not only by the obvious but from talking to teachers i had in school that had decades of experience in the industry working with the biggest labels and biggest names, which some still do, (including artists that we all listen to and own albums), guest lecturerers from top people in the business side and production side, and friends that i graduted with that currently work for majors.
you really think the industry is going to change their standards when it comes to record sales and what units being sold constitute being a huge success just because the sales of one genre, rap, are free falling worse than the japanese stock market and is doing the worst out of the other genres? lol no. sure sales from all genres are in the decline, with the exception of country music but selling gold records hasn't been a big deal for a really long time and are not going to go back to being that way. the majors still expect artists to go platinum, especially when it comes to new up coming artists that are getting a huge push and ones that have made a name for themselves. if they didn't they wouldn't be pushing that same formula that used to work 10 years, but has seem to be not working in recent years. nothing in the mainstream rap music has changed put the majors still push the same stuff out there with the same marketing forumlas all while they wonder why their sales suck. there have only been a few exceptions with the likes of kanye west.
