Of course not. They only spit simplistic pimp shit over crunk beats loloolol

I'm behind on this year's releases but the last good albums I heard from the south were Devin the Dude's Waitin' to Inhale and UGK's Underground Kingz.

Ignorance.

There have been many great albums from the south.

The entire Scarface catalog.
The entire Outkast catalog.
The entire TI catalog.
Most of the Ludacris catalog.
Three 6 Mafia. UGK. Bun B's solo, Pimp C (RIP) solo. Slim Thug. Chamillionaire. Etc etc.

Stop with the hate, the south has a lot of talent.

Thank god for an intelligent answer, I was about to shut the whole forum down! LOL.

Im ashamed to admit that after his fantastic performance on 2001, I have slept on Devin :(

Chronic, check that DJ Drama album I posted, its actually a pretty good compilation, and shits on what Khaled put out.

Underground Kingz, if it's for the ride. I'd say Dirty Acres or something but that's not a ride-type CD you want.

Mr. Prime Suspect - Ten Toes Down
its not as good as his first one, but has some nice cuts.

Big Chief - Real Conversation
Very solid release. Not many fillers.

What do you honestly think it is? That one specific very large region of the USA produces shit rappers or that you just don't like their music? If it's the former ... no comment... if it's the latter why don't you avoid threads that discuss southern artists or simply say "Southern rap isn't for me"? Being objective creates better discussions and saves you from posting "there are no great southern albums" which adds nothing to the thread.

What always pisses me off is when people say the south all sounds the same. That is such a broad brush stroke. I mean, Outkast sounds like Rick Ross who sounds like TI? Come on now.

As for the slang, sure, yeah, they all have the same slang, same drawl, and the production has the same style and vibe, thats what makes the south the south.

Uneducated ears used to say that rap all sounded the same. "Its just dudes talking over simple 4 by 4 beats that sample old records." That wasnt true back then, and it certainly isnt true now.

All West coast music sounds similar, thats why it's west coast hip-hop, its similar sub cultures. All New York rappers rhyme similar, the production is similar, thats their sub culture but thats what makes it New York hip-hop and the same can be said for the South.

There's dope music coming out of all regions you just need to educate yourself and open your ears.

In Sarr's defense, he is somewhat disadvantaged as he belongs to the "Oz Hip Hop" sub culture in Australia which prides itself on remaining true to the origins of Hip-Hop, and thus riding the '88 to '98 New York sound and artists HARD. Unfortunately, while they refuse to sell out which is a good thing, that particular sub culture has a hard time evolving and developing new trends of its own but thats a totally different discussion.

Self proclaimed Hip-Hop purists think Hip-Hop stars and ends with a New York way of doing things, and that is their prerogative. It's just sad when they ignore whole other styles of music or culture because of their views.

Oh well, their loss.
