It's been pretty interesting....

*SPOILERS*

I didn't expect Christopher to die right away, especially in that way...

Any thoughts to add on the season?

Also, from what I just read, get ready for a wild ride these last 3 episodes..

already? what do you mean already? the last episodes are almost over, it's not like they killed him off in the first new episode. i kinda assumed he was going to die, but i didn't imagine it would be that way. if memory serves me correctly, wasn't Tony in Vegas during his coma dream? cuz it seems like they are leading up to some connection with that.

overall, however, i'm not too impressed with how this season is going. i was hoping for some over the top shit for the last 8 episodes, but some episodes have almost been boring enough to put me to sleep. this is not the way i wanted the show to go out. hopefully the last 3 episodes can redeem the season.

Well I expected Chris to die by being shot and not in the first 10 mins of the episode thats what I mean.

From what I read in the next 3 episodes... *spoiler*

Bad shit is going to happen to Meadow which will start the NJ/NY war.

Just whats being said, apparently..

finally watched it this evening, was good, but it still won't change the way i feel about the way this last season has gone. building up meaningless storylines, introducing one-off characters like Vito's son when there's no room (or need, since the show is ending) to expand the character at all. and there was a lot of pointless shit to wrap up some character's storylines eg. when Chris killed his movie writer/AA buddy Dolan for no reason, it seemed like they just thought, "well, we need to find a way to tie up his character, let's just bump him off" like it was a last minute decision or something. overall i'm not completely disappointed, but not exactly satisfied with this season either. so far anyway. the last episode better be DAMN good.

that was bullshit. i thought the signal on the dish got fucked up.

i think they wanted to leave the viewer guessing what happens or let them viewer make up their own minds on how it ended.

it was a smart ending because people will be talking about it but it pisses me off

i smell movie

Man........ They could have at least showed Phil's head after the car went over it lol
lol the suv going going over dudes face was the best part of the episode. that and almost seeing tony jr's girl topless

edit: the more i think about it the more i think the ending works in some ways. like good art it takes time to be appriciated and it will take time for people to really like or maybe even understand the ending. i mean really, what kind of ending would make the fans happy? i dont think any. everyone was thinking tony would get it in the end and people were probably expecting that. this is an edning nobody saw coming. brilliant in that regards.

it was a nice way to end it. after all the sopranos wasnt just about mobsters and crime, there was much more to the show than that.

who wants to bet that song they played at the end is going to be the number one download on itunes

It was decent. Left you hanging but I think they might have a bonus season or something, prolly not but hoping. That Journey song is one of my favorite songs by them. Saw it live this year, that concert was really amazing.

Thats a cop out. The ending SUCKED. it was a let down to any soprano fan much like the entire last season was...i thought chase would give us all our rightful dues in this finale, but he blew it.

the ending seems obvious..remember when tony was talking to bobby "i bet you dont even hear the one that gets you"
i think tony was watching meadow come in through the door and didnt even realize he was killed by the guy in the bathroom.

but regardless, it was weak ending and a weak episode. It didnt tie anything up.

And that Journey song is huge in jersey. They play it at every single bar down here before closing. And since the sopranos ARE jersey, it was appropriate in more ways than one..but im surprised you never heard it before tonight- they even sang karaoke to it in a family guy episode

Tony IS DEAD and WAS CLIPPED by someone. We the audience have always seen the episodes from Tony's point of view, and the blackened silence is what Tony sees and hears when he finally gets clipped. Remember the conversation with Bobby at the lake? "I wonder if you hear the one that gets you" - the finale episode answers that question. That is why they flashed back to it at the end of last weeks episode. He never heard the one that killed him.
I read this somewhere. I think he might have hit the nail on the head. Anyone agree?

edit- just read coolwaterz post. guess he was thinking the same thing.

well, not a great ending, but i can't say i was surprised they ended it like that. no matter which way they went tho, there would have been people who would have been unhappy. poor Phil lol, did they have to kill him off so brutally, and right in front of (and directly under) his grandkids? oh well, there are worse ways he could have gone out, they coulda killed him off on the crapper like Gigi lol.

ok, so now that it's all over, what would you say was the best season of the show overall? for me it was the second season. they did a beautiful job throughout the entire season of building up tension and leading you along. David Proval's Richie was the perfect menace for Tony, and just when you think you know exactly what everything is leading up to, they throw a swerve in there that you never saw coming to resolve the entire situation. plus all the side stories were brilliant (Pussy working for the feds, Christopher and his 2 proteges, as well as his movie career plans, the introduction of Furio, etc.), and a great guest appearance from Robert Patrick to top it all off. you can't get any better than that. the show was great after the second season, but it never reached that peak again imo.

best episodes: Guy Walks Into A Psychiatrist's Office, The Happy Wanderer, Bust-Out, Knight In White Satin Armor, Funhouse.

I for one think tony was clipped, but I also have the idea that if he was not killed his life went on as normal. The reason being is it leaves it open for a Sopranos movie or two. I would go and see the Sopranos if it went to the big screen.

I liked the ending to sopranos, I love how it leaves it with so many what if's.

Got this from another forum:

Anybody who says “nothing happened on the Sopranos” is completely missing out on the ending! This is NOT a life goes on ending! And anyone who thinks so should go back and watch it again.

Watch the last scene of The Blue Comet (the 2nd to last episode) first. As Tony sits on the edge of the bed he contemplates his demise.

Then, there’s the flashback to Tony and Bobby in the boat discussing being whacked, “You probably never hear it coming.” Remember when Tony was speaking with Bobby...basically saying that you don’t see or hear death? It just happens and you would never feel it.....aka fading to black.....

Fast forward to Tony in “Made In America” final scene.

So, the point would have been that life continues and we may never know the end of the Sopranos. But if you pay attention to the history, you will find that all the answers lie in the characters in the restaurant.

The trucker was the brother of the guy who was robbed by Christopher in Season 2. Remember the DVD players? The trucker had to identify the body.

As Tony walks in the door of Holstein’s he looks into the diner and sees nobody from his family. He is the first to arrive. The there is a very odd cut. The camera cuts back to Tony’s face looking into the diner and then cuts back to the diner where, if by magic, Tony is now sitting.

This odd cut is provided to show us that “cut to Tony’s face means the audience = Tony’s perspective.”

Fast Forward to AJ arriving. The are two black youths weren’t these guys the ones who tried to kill Tony and only clipped him in the ear, circa season 2 or 3?

And the “Members only” guy at the bar. This guy is credited as Nicky Leotardo. The same actor played him in the first part of season 6 during a brief sit down concerning the future of Vito. That wasn’t that long ago. Apparently, he is the nephew of Phil. Phil’s brother Nicky Senior was killed in 1976 in a car accident.

Tony takes a look at both. After the “members only” guy walks to the restroom we see a close-up of Tony anticipating Meadow to walk through the door - again - Tony’s perspective. Absolutely
incredible!!!! There were three people in the restaurant who had reason to kill Tony and then it just ends. This was Chase’s way of proving that he will not escape his past. It will not go on forever despite that he would like it to ......”DON’T STOP” — BELIEVING....

Suddenly CUT to black, music stops, black screen for several seconds. Tony (and the audience) got WHACKED - and he didn’t hear it coming. It is crystal clear and not open to interpretation. WE GOT WHACKED! Chase is showing Tony’s perspective.

Tony’s finished...and Chase is truly rewarding the true fans who pay attention to detail.
