only tolerable tracks was the song about d12 and fall...

i'm fully convinced he has to hang around with a bunch of yes men who tell him his music is fire. he really went at people for not liking his shit lmao.

I think his flow is a lot better on this than it has been in ages.

Need to listen to it a little more. I just quickly skimmed thru the tracks with my iPhone on loud.

Headphones in now. This is really dope.

The track with Joyner Lucas. Woah. He does a modern flow and then switches into one of his fastest raps ever and then back into a modern trap bridge/outro.

This could actually be my third favorite Eminem album.

Sonically this is probably Eminem’s best album. One thing I’ve never liked about some of his projects is I’ve found certain flows, beats or tracks really jarring and even difficult to just zone out to. But this is a really smooth album. If that makes sense.

And the flow is unconscious, in a way it's only been in fits and starts since 04

Yeah this is really good.

Looking forward to listening to it again through the system. So many bars to go over. So many disses in there.

I really hope Joe Budden responds.

I don't know why but I had such mixed feelings about "Normal". I could see the old Eminem there, despite him trying to go a bit more modern. His rhyming style there is really somehow standing out to me like it did back in his golden years, but then he goes weird. Still, it's probably the song I found the most "Eminem-y" there.

Stepping Stone was good too, the "Eminem going personal" song. It was nice to hear his point, but it doesn't have enough replay value to me.

As far as the whole album goes, I think his raps are actually very good, there's great wordplay happening, which is a nice change from the more recent ones, but the opposite problem is happening now - the album is missing any bangers or catchy tracks. Also lyrically, while good, he feels like a middle-aged white man now in the way he goes political. I guess that's his audience now.
It's a bit weirdly random musically at times too.

Overall, there's nothing particularly bad about this album, and his raps are actually decent.. but then there's nothing on it that will make me listen to it more than twice. I really appreciate the age of Spotify the most with such albums. I liked hearing it, but I wouldn't be happy if I bought it.

Yes, this is good. Should have come out in place of the last one. Don't know which is the most commercial, Sigh, but listen to it in order. First song, The Ringer, sets it off fine.

See I think the thing is that I’ve always hated when he does catchy tracks or bangers. They’re always really jarring and annoying to me. Repetitive bullshit voices etc. all the way back to My Name Is. I’ve just never liked that material. I much prefer when he makes music like this album.
