I don't know why but I had such mixed feelings about "Normal". I could see the old Eminem there, despite him trying to go a bit more modern. His rhyming style there is really somehow standing out to me like it did back in his golden years, but then he goes weird. Still, it's probably the song I found the most "Eminem-y" there.
Stepping Stone was good too, the "Eminem going personal" song. It was nice to hear his point, but it doesn't have enough replay value to me.
As far as the whole album goes, I think his raps are actually very good, there's great wordplay happening, which is a nice change from the more recent ones, but the opposite problem is happening now - the album is missing any bangers or catchy tracks. Also lyrically, while good, he feels like a middle-aged white man now in the way he goes political. I guess that's his audience now.
It's a bit weirdly random musically at times too.
Overall, there's nothing particularly bad about this album, and his raps are actually decent.. but then there's nothing on it that will make me listen to it more than twice. I really appreciate the age of Spotify the most with such albums. I liked hearing it, but I wouldn't be happy if I bought it.
