I saw the thing about it on Reddit, and soon afterwards ( a few hours later) the front page had a post where a rep said there weren't going to be bannings solely for using a VPN. It would have to be another reason in conjunction with it.
In the original post talking about the possibility, a lot of commentors speculated that it was just something Netflix posted in its terms and policies just to appease the studios and that they wouldn't really do it. So many people benefit from VPNs, including those that have their Netflix bandwidth throttled by their ISPs. So they use a VPN, perhaps with no region switching, and it goes from like 5 Mbps and back to their original bandwidth (one guy screen capped the difference from 5 Mbps to 80Mbps on a VPN).
They would lose a lot of subscribers by doing this. From what I understand, the US still has the largest selection of titles, but not necessarily the most desirable. I would be one of those people. A lot of US shows are on international subscriptions, hence why I switch my region. But it's the people in the other regions that want the expansive selection the US gets, instead of all the seasons of a few shows they already watch.
I can't complain either way. I am using someone's account, so I am as courteous as can be in not rating stuff or adding stuff the queues. If there is a legit threat to banning over using Hola, I'll just take it off and go back to torrenting. Fuck the studios.
