@Casey - That Xposed GEL Settings app doesn't seem to change anything for me so I tried LCDDensity which also doesn't seem to work either. I'm definitely rooted as I have SetCPU working and have set permissions for those. The Xposed GEL Settings app did not request any permissions though, which is odd.

@Everyone - Does anyone install themes? If so, what app do you use to browse themes and apply them to your device?

I think he's a bit of a twat... But I met him in GOSH in 1992. He was a nice guy.

hmmm. I don't really like any of the MOTD pundits. Hansena and Lawrence leaving could be the best thing that happens - Savage needs to go as well. I mean they state the obvious!!

Anyway, back to Android. Is there a Lovefilm or Amazon Prime app for VOD?

Do U have the Xposed Framework installed and set up properly?

Oh shit, Falcon opens up the link or image when you tap the tweet. That's pretty neat. I haven't seen an app do this as yet. Before, I had to tap, and then a menu of like...10 options came up, and then I had to instruct it to open up a link or twitpic....in Chrome. Those one opens it right inside the app. That's pretty neat.

I believe so, yes. The only thing I did was not opt in for the new app icons. Maybe I should uninstall and re-install. Still, it would be nice if LCDDensity worked.

Also, Casey. Do you have any problems with running Sonic Dash (if you have this game) on ART? The game loads up to the menu and always crashes, but on My Nexus 7 it works perfectly (still using Dalvik on that as I don't have the option to change it).

I'm not running ART on my phone right now. Xposed Framework isn't currently compatible with ART. So that's probably why you can't get the modules working.

I run ART on my Nexus 7 2013.

A buddy of mine has bought his third ChromeCast, this one for his parents. I'm still confused as to the point of this thing.

If I had the money to buy a used Logitech Revue, why would I want a Chromecast? Or if my TV has TV apps for Netflix and Hulu and Youtube and all that, why would I need a ChromeCast?

Hey guys....just checking in....

I just found out Samsung made the Nexus 10. Not ASUS.

This on the heels of figuring out the device my sister had was an iPad 3 with Retina display, when she was under the impression the school had given her an iPad 2 and told her that.

I really feel like a fucklum.

Samsung...... No wonder that screen was ridiculous.

The key with Chromecast is that it's not an additional interface. It just pushes content from the devices you already use. You don't have to learn anything new. You don't have to look for additional apps built for a slightly different platform, like Google TV. It's just the same apps you already use, and one click pushes the content to your TV.

What this also means is that any of your friends/family can instantly use it as well, as it's both Android and iOS compatible. Any of my friends can show up at my place and push a song or video to my TV without pissing about. From their own phone or tablet.

Also, the dev community is excited about it. So there's lots of apps incoming that'll support it. The latest Chrome Beta for Android seems to have an option to cast your whole browser as well, which is new and could prove useful. You can cast documents from Google Drive as well, which is useful.

So the difference between this and a $5 HDMI cable to the computer is that it takes in wireless things like your phone and tablet, but does the same thing as said $5 HDMI-computer combo?

And when developers bring in new, unofficial features, would it basically just be "support for" new apps, rather than new apps since nothing runs off of the device? How many more apps, outside of streaming apps like Netflix and WatchESPN can be brought in?

There's lots of games being made, where your device will act as the controller. Things CAN run on the Chromecast itself (I think, might be wrong), it's just not the main use-case for it.

And it's more of a shared experience. I think it's aimed more at situations where there's gonna be multiple people using it. For example, at my place, I use mine for Netflix/YouTube/Google Play Music because it's more convenient than booting up the laptop and plugging in the HDMI. But at my cousin's place, it's constantly in use, because there's usually about 5 people in the house hanging out, we'll all push stuff to the main screen like "hey, check this out" from our individual phones/tablets/laptops etc.

Ah, that makes sense. I can see that really taking off if you have a small gathering and someone wants to DJ while mingling. The host, preferably, otherwise if everyone is on it, it could turn into a battle for control.

So basically your phone will be like a remote as you walk around the house (for some reason this sticks to me as a party novelty, but more) and you can just change the music video or audio being pushed to the TV? But...the phone or tablet you are using will have to have all the media on there, or you'll be streaming from YouTube?

So then Spotify would eventually hop on this too, like Pandora did.

Interesting. If it runs games, then bye bye OUYA?

Also, this http://www.phonearena.com/news/Purp...-from-LG-G3-surfaces-you-be-the-judge_id53431

July? Shit. I guess that would be around the time my true upgrade kicks in, but I was really hoping on not buying any electronic thing as a treat until after my exam. Which is looking like late-July or August. I guess it'll give me enough time to hear the reviews on it.

Anyone read the AnandTech review on the G Pro 2? The Samsung hate is strong in the comments. lol. I swear, the tech industry is all a bunch of hipsters that get vocal when either a. they don't get their way, or b. if a company and/or its product gets too popular/mainstream.

It truly is best to just buy whatever the fuck you want.

The difference is there's no hdmi lead from your laptop to the TV. This isn't 2002...!

Now... I would pick a dedicated small form nettop PC to use as my media player every time. With something like XBMC, Plex or Boxee installed. But... My newest purchase for this cost £600, which is more than a lot of people spend on the actual TV. So I understand that isn't for everyone. But... For £30... The Chromecast makes sense. I am not a huge fan. But I am comparing it against far more expensive tech. I am giving it to my mum. For her, it's perfect. She doesn't have a smart TV. But she can power the CC from the TV's USB and have it hidden behind the TV. She can then run netflix or youtube... or the many more apps that are currently being worked on.

G Pro 2 is fucking nice. LG are obliterating Samsung right now on hardware. The S5 isn't even as good as the G2 which has been out for like 5 months now. Even masta agrees with that!!!

But their UI is horrible. Equally as shit as Touchwiz.

There's no precedent for it - but I certainly wouldn't mind a third LG-produced Nexus phone. But it seems Google may set that precedent in a couple of months with a third ASUS-produced Nexus tablet, if the rumors are true. Hopefully other OEM's had a shot at getting the contract, but they were beaten by superior products.

Yeah, I'm even debating going back to TouchWiz on my S3, but I don't think Kit Kat is out yet, or ever will be. I'm not sure I'd miss too much from 4.3 to 4.4, though. I kind of realized that by rooting my phone, all phones essentially become the same for me. Whether it would be the G3 or S5 or whatever. That's why I want to try stock again because I feel like I'm just buying a shell of a phone now.

Anyone familiar with Knox software? It's for Samsung devices where it locks the bootloader or prevents root, or something.
