oh, that's right. it's those damn reptilians. someone get me those reptilians on the phone.
lol

You are confusing me with David Icke. I was more alluding to Lobby-ism. And the fact that each law and changes to current laws require a vote (from those entitled to vote on such matters ie. Not the people).

The weirdest thing happened today.

I get to school around 9 am and my carrel is in its usual state (somewhat messy but not dirty) so I grab my stuff and go to class. At 10:30 am I come back and someone has cleaned my carrel with comet or something of sort, and organized all my textbooks, loose papers, pens, and binders. No one will admit to doing it or even has any idea who did it.

yes, it's called a representative democracy. you know, helps avoid tyranny by majority (in theory) and all that good stuff. :D

Do you think a representative democracy is democracy? Serious question. and I know you must have studied it.
The few pol sci classes that I took, I went the comparative politics and foreign affairs route, not so much theory. I don't hold a menckenian critique of representative democracy or anything. I think it can be efficient, like outsourcing. Pay politicians to make decisions on your behalf while you focus on other things. :) You probably want to ask Jokerman what he thinks.

I hate political science and never think about it if I have a choice. But, no, a representative democracy is not a "pure" democracy, but it's probably the only viable form of democracy that will work in today's societies.
Should Lobbyists exist in this form of politics though? Surely Lobbyism is undemocratic?

Politics is everywhere and affects everything. Everything you do, done or think about is political or has been a political discussion at some point. So by extension, calling politics gay is actually calling yourself gay. Was it a confession?
Yes. I like to rim with unpeeled bananas.

Lobbying is absolutely democratic. Again, efficiency. You pay people to fight for causes you believe in, or in my case, I dig the EFF and the ACLU and I'm glad they get funded. There's nothing wrong with lobbying per se. The problem is campaign financing and how with the case of Citizens United, one person can fund an entire Presidential campaign. It's killing grass-roots campaigning and drowning out voices.
