Next season, Vince quits Hollywood, grows a beard, ups his cocaine usage, and starts rapping.

Oh wait, that's Joaquin Phoenix.

By the way, what's up with this ten-episode season? That's the least amount of episodes in a season since the first one. Season 3 had like 20. WTF, this is stupid.

The last season is absolute bullshit... I disliked it.
Not because it has ten episodes, it's because only 1 of those 10 episodes was worth anything...
Season 2 is the best. Sundance Festival episode is the best of the whole series.

I'm not completely sure when this show jumped the shark and started sucking balls but it did.

A NYT article described it best when it said it was a show that romanticized friendship and nurtured the fantasy that some bonds are so precious, that nothing, not even fame, money and sex, can tear asunder.

The series and season finale wasn't bad or anything. It was...cute. But it made me reflect on the show's previous 8 seasons. Truth be told, I don't remember most of the seasons. I marathoned the first 5 seasons in record time. I followed the last 3 as they went on. I think Season 6 was relatively good. Last season sucked balls. This one did too. In what ways? The supporting characters and the side stories were uninteresting and unimpressive. In all 8 seasons, the interaction between the key characters never fell off really. The writing had its highs and lows but we could always expect to be satisfied by the main things going on. However, as the seasons went on, the jokes they made about one another started becoming more predictable and less funny and their problems started becoming less interesting. In the mean time, there was less interesting stuff going on between their soap opera friendship. The scenarios they were involved in were boring and I found it hard to give a shit. The side characters never really made us care for them or wish to see them on screen. Lloyd ended up being the only one. Walsh was awesome in Season 4 or 5, but was completely pointless in Season 8. I think the biggest irony is that Vince, while a movie star in the show, just might end up having the shittiest real life career out of all of them.

^Season 7 kicked ass. Where Vince had his downward spiral? How could you not like that season?

Season 8 wasn't that great. Not terrible but not what you'd expect. I think the reason for all the problems you stated, SOFI, is that the episodes are 20-30 minutes long. They should've switched to the hour long format seasons ago.

I don't like Sasha Grey as a porn star (never even spanked the monkey to her), let alone as an actress. That whole downward spiral was pissing me off because it seemed so pushed as the result of bad writing.

Since Entourage is a comedy/drama, I don't think there's too many hour-long comedy TV shows. It just doesn't work. The reason Entourage is so popular is because it catered to this new Generation Y ADHD crowd.

Seasons 2-4 were the best.

I also liked season 8. Thought the jokes were a bit better, on a par with season 1. Season 7 was really poor.

Maybe its because I watched it all on VOD, but I whole heartedly disagree. This is the first season (season 8) I've watched weekly as they were released and it made the show less enjoyable. I found myself wanting to push next on the dvd player after every episode.

The story lines they had going in the later seasons demanded an extra half hour per episode in my opinion. The scene after the end credits did leave it open for that movie everyone is talking about though.

Yeah, the movie should be interesting.

I mean, with regards to Entourage, the reality is that there wasn't anything really good about the show...except Ari's character. More specifically, Ari's character in relation to his treatment of Lloyd and other people. Ari IS Entourage. Without him, nobody would give a fuck.

I mean, if you honestly thought that the writing for the friendship between Eric, Turtle, Drama, and Vince was really good, then I'd say you have a shitty taste. Also, at one point, a young woman (dob 1979) was writing most of the stuff anyway. You get a know-nothing young chick writing about how dudes operate as friends? GTFO out my face. I think why a lot of people might have liked the show is because the strong bonds that the show exhibited were a fantasy to a lot of people, as I mentioned. To me, I actually do go out of my way to keep it real with people I care about. I don't fuck people over. I have lost out on a lot of pussy because of being loyal, following an imaginary bro code, etc. Most people I know who enjoy the show have no friendship and loyalty qualities that Drama and Vince tend to exhibit for one another and the group as a whole.

I enjoyed the show, it had some really good moments but it could have never been great. It could never be up there with the wire, breaking bad, sopranos etc. There was never any good detailed dialogue and story lines never went into to real great depth, it was just like shit happened and that's what they showed. I blame the 30 minute runtime. Then again an hour long entourage could'be made it unbearable. Sofia is right about Ari. This past season did give me more ammo for my opinion that the chick who plays his wife is a horrible actress.

That chick you speak of is Ally Muzika or something. She was always a writer, but didn't have much power... it's only since season 7 she became the head writer. As for the rest, agreed.

It was a fun show, a trifle really. Like ARon said not up there with other truly great shows. I did enjoy it. But that series finale was very, very shitty. None of it made any sense. It was very rushed and gay.

I thought the final ep was utter shit. So Sophia Lear or whatever is a smart, distinguished, educated woman, but she goes on 1 date with Vince and she's up for marriage. Seriously now... sloppy writing. Fuck you Ally Muzika.

Yeah but she was a producer in some form whether (associate or executive later) from almost the beginning so it's hard to tell what role she played in the story writing but she did have an influence, to say the least. It was clear when she became head writer because everything became super soap-opera-ish regarding Eric and shit. I remember Season 6 or Season 7 were almost solely dedicated to Eric's love troubles, as if anyone really gave a shit about his wack ass troubles with Sloan.
