New Album coming August 30th called "I'm With You".

Will also be going on a World Tour in 2012 and will be coming to England. So I'll be there.

True story: I went to Lollapalooza in 2006 in Chicago. Saw a handful of my favorite bands there, highlighted by Wilco playing in their hometown. Low point was a shitty show by Kanye West. Ryan Adams was there, Jack White, lots of people I like. RHCP were the headliner, and I proudly left Chicago just as they were scheduled to take the stage. I fucking hate that band.

That's because you are a Morrisey fan. That makes you an elitist when it comes to music.

I like the noise they make. And John Frusciante is the best guitar player of the last 2 generations. FACT. While he may have left the Chillis, I am still a fan.

He's a great guitarist. I like him a lot. He dicks around a lot, too directionless sometimes, but wildly talented without a doubt. It's the songwriter I despise. Anthony Kiedis is a hack if I ever heard one.

lol.

I can see why you are saying this. But I don't agree.

He knows he cannot sing, and I think we all would agree he doesn't have a good voice. But, and I am finding it difficult to explain, they are exactly what I want from a band. They are free spirited and bohemian. They are all about having a party and bringing some (imo) brilliant music. I can't sing, and nor can I play guitar like John, but I would love to have put that band together, even if I never got the success they did. They do it for the fun of it, as would I.

Yes. But Ska (or reggae) isn't really my thing. That repetitive Bass line gets a bit old quickly for me.

I gotta be honest though. I like almost all music.

I can listen to manufactured pop music and enjoy it, and I like the musical direction Britney Spears is moving in. But I may not admit it to anyone when discussing music. My dad brought me up on many, many 60's rock bands and he also liked the New Romantics in the 80's. My mum listened a lot to motown and black music. They both (like everyone) loved The Beatles.

The only thing I don't like is when musicians take themselves too seriously and think they are better than they are. So I have issues with artists like Bono. But I'd still very much enjoy a U2 concert. Because of the music, and almost all acts are great live if the atmosphere is good. And I usually take narcotics which helps.

Did you substitute Bono for Morrissey at the last minute? To be nice? lol.

The whole thing about Morrissey: people who think he's mopey or self-serious only think that because they don't listen to his music. A lot of his music is funny. He plays with the idea that he's this self-pitying depressive. Explodes that myth all the time.

No one likes Bono.

I thought about putting Morrissey. But it's Bono who gets me most. Geldof doesn't affect me that way, but Bono does.

RHCP are great but wildly hit and miss. Blood Sugar Sex Magik and Californication are great albums. But Stadium Arcadium was virtually unlistenable to me. Frusciante's departure might force them to stop coasting so we'll see how the new album is.

and for the record, Sublime are fucking awesome. Once you get past the fratboy stuff like "Date Rape" etc you'll find they have some incredible songs, like "Santeria" and "What I Got".

Stadium Arcadium had a few decent songs. Didn't need to be a double-album.

I almost enjoy their first album. I believe it's self-titled. Funky shit. Very different band.

Sublime is a terrible band. Overrated by lazy stoner kids who admire the aesthetic and care very little for the music itself, which is dogshit. Casey, the two songs you listed are examples of that frat-boy whateverism that runs rampant through their music. To me anyway.

I dunno about all of that. I did first hear them while stoned.... in Eugene, Oregon.... on a campus.... lol. But still, I like them a lot.

What about a track like "I Saw Red"? That's a good one.

Ristol you seem to have a passionate hate for bands that you actively dislike. That is interesting. I can't say there's very many artists I feel that way about. If any at all. Oh wait, there's Justin Timberlake. Fuck that guy.

I can't hate something without listening to it. lol.

I Saw Red is very coincidentally the only Sublime song I really really like. Good call.

What about The Ramones or The Sex Pistols? I find them hard to like. I don't hate them. But I am not a fan.

I guess music means different things to different people. And Ristol, I admire your taste, because in the past I have seen you list some very good (and mostly English) bands.
