For never allowing Weird Al to cover one of his songs. That's just plain weak.

"And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my prince. And you will know I am the Sir Lord Casey Rain when I lay my vengeance upon you."

Thing is, for the way Weird Al does his songs, he doesn't actually need permission since there's no copyright infringement or whatever. But he asks anyway because he thinks thats the decent thing to do and when the original artist refuses, Weird Al won't do the song.

He asked Prince like a zillion times but the pansy never let him do it.

MJ loved Weird Al.

The respect thing works two ways. If we are supposed to respect the fact that Weird Al actually asks permission to parody someone before doing it, then we must respect it when somebody says no.

Is it such a major loss for the world that yet another Weird Al piss-take song doesn't exist?

At the end of the day, the man has his reasons. Perhaps he just doesn't find Weird Al funny. Humour is very subjective.

I hear that he refuses sampling rights for Hip Hop songs often. I saw him speak of it in an interview and he basically said that he doesn't want his music used to make shit music.

He earned a slight respect from me on that front.

Then he recorded that shit ass cunt bitch song for the Minnesota Vikings.

Was it a gesture of good will for the Vikings or did his ego get in the way and he no longer wanted Purple Rain to be used as a Vikings fighting song?

I don't know, I don't care - We still have Purple Haze, which is a better song.

Unlike most artists who are after the money, Prince only really cares about the music. He'll screen every sample request he gets and determine whether they can sample him solely based on whether the song is good or not. Hence, 2Pac sampling "777-9311" and "Darling Nikki" (amongst others) was allowed, and Ja Rule sampling "Pop Life" was denied.

As for "Purple & Gold", we the fan community have unanimously voted to never speak of that travesty again. It has been erased from the record. lol

In the end, he's a pansy that hoards his melodies like a pansy purple dragon.

The interesting thing, and genuinely interesting that is, about Prince is that with all his accomplishments, I don't know of one person I've met in person who's a huge Prince fan. I know people who are fans of many legendary artists but for some odd reason, not one is a Prince fan. I don't even know of one person who listens to Prince frequently. I've never been at a party/get together where someone played a Prince track. It's so weird. I'm dead serious. Why is this?
