I hear that he refuses sampling rights for Hip Hop songs often. I saw him speak of it in an interview and he basically said that he doesn't want his music used to make shit music.
He earned a slight respect from me on that front.
.
The respect thing works two ways. If we are supposed to respect the fact that Weird Al actually asks permission to parody someone before doing it, then we must respect it when somebody says no.
Is it such a major loss for the world that yet another Weird Al piss-take song doesn't exist?
At the end of the day, the man has his reasons. Perhaps he just doesn't find Weird Al funny. Humour is very subjective.
In the end, he's a pansy that hoards his melodies like a pansy purple dragon.
His melodies, though excellent of quality, are not infinitely superior to everything else.
The interesting thing, and genuinely interesting that is, about Prince is that with all his accomplishments, I don't know of one person I've met in person who's a huge Prince fan. I know people who are fans of many legendary artists but for some odd reason, not one is a Prince fan. I don't even know of one person who listens to Prince frequently. I've never been at a party/get together where someone played a Prince track. It's so weird. I'm dead serious. Why is this?
^Yeah, I think there's nothing too cool about him, in the teenage sense.
