New rules don't work for shit. This thread was started before the whole shit got renewed and I've been away since that was up for months. And this thread still hasnt broken page 3.

Fuck the new rules.

Not a big Metallica guy unless it's 2006 and Billy Wagner is coming in to save the game for the Mets. In that case, then, by all means, Enter Sandman.

I don't give a fuck. It's not about quantity. It's about quality. I'd rather have 3 pages where people are actually DISCUSSING what's being posted, rather than showing up, dropping a link to a video, nobody watches it, next person comes in and does the same, ad infinitum.

If you can't abide by the new rules then I'll just lock the thread.

Anyway, Inner City Pressure is absolute genius. One of the best Flight Of The Conchords songs. Best lyrics

No one cares, no one sympathizes.
You just stay home and play synthesizers.

What i'm listening to:

No it's not. If there's no discussion then it's basically the same as what The Dealer does. Seriously, people are coming into this thread because they are fans of music. How fucking hard is it to actually LISTEN to what the last person posted and make a comment on it? I'm not asking for a fucking extended thesis.

This thread is useless without the new rules.

Seriously people. Even if you just put "I like it" or "I don't like it". that's better than nothing.

You both make good points. The thread has definitely been anemic compared to the old one. Then again, I'm watching more of these videos. In the old one I just went in to post my own shit.

Casey: how did you get so unsnobbish? You like what you like and that's it. Good for you. I like that song, but I wouldn't post it on SH. I'd be worried that people might think I liked Rick Springfield. (Again, I'm complimenting you.)

This is a nice little song until about 1:34, when it becomes incredible.

I listen to so much music from so many genres that it's inevitable. I never bought into that music snobbery bullshit... who is anyone to judge anyone else based on music? I don't understand it at all.

I have playlists that go from Britney to Prince to Frank Zappa to Steve Vai to Jaco Pastorius to Joni Mitchell to Lady Gaga to Nine Inch Nails. If some people can't fathom how I can appreciate bubblegum pop as well as experimental progressive jazz, that's their problem.

And I do like Rick Springfield. I think he is the unheralded master of power-pop. Pretty much all of his albums are amazing (past the two teen albums he did in the 70s where the label were trying to make him into the next David Cassidy). I bought his autobiography (great read) and I might go see him live later in the year.

I've also been playing the new Britney album non-stop alongside this piece of pure genius from Swedish-Canadian funk singer Amalia's recent debut album:

That Elliott Smith track is awesome. I don't have much critique on it other than that I like it. It's relaxing, something I could play whilst writing. I've been writing a lot more recently and only certain music can be played whilst I write without being overbearing and taking too much of my attention away.

I understand the importance of listening to lots of stuff, especially for a musician. But don't you ever dismiss shit?

Not crazy about the song you posted, Woody.
