if you don't recognize this album cover, shame on you! I recommend it if you haven't heard it, it's a classic. It's "There's A Riot Going On" by Sly & The Family Stone

Classic Gil :thumb:

I picked this import up about 3 years back when i worked at a independant record store and only gave it a proper listen lately. 4 tracks bout 15 minutes each, no vocals just sum real cool jazz fusion.

dea1983 - the N.E.W.S album is great. so chilled out and relaxing. love it.

I've been listening to these two albums a lot recently:

Guns 'N Roses - Appetite for Destruction

and

Rooting through my old cds at the moment, dug out out sum good ones to listen to

My personal favourite Doors album , Strange Days

Always like a listen to this on the occasion:)

Yeh militant, that N.E.W.S album is good stuff, i am finding Prince albums i forgot i owned cos i think i used to pick them up in sales when they used to come in at work. I never really gave this one a proper listen, that 'Betcha By Golly Wow' is a cool tune, listening to Princes version more than the original. Nice vocals on it.

/\ You never gave 'Emancipation' a listen before? That's a great album, probably my favorite thing he did in the 90's, along with 'The Gold Experience'.

There's some amazing tracks on Emancipation ; I'd say my favorite tracks on it are:

Right Back Here In My Arms
Somebody's Somebody
Damned If I Do
White Mansion
In This Bed Eye Scream
Sex In The Summer
Joint 2 Joint
The Holy River
Friend Lover Sister Mother/Wife
New World
Face Down
Style
Sleep Around
Emancipation

I have some quality live performances and out-takes from that album as well, I have the CD singles of "Betcha By Golly Wow", and "The Holy River", too, with some great remixes and bonus tracks. A lot of people don't like the Emancipation era but I love it.

Might you beable to point me in the direction of some of them outakes? I'd definetly like to check that out. And another thing, i heard a charity single he done last year,Gilles Peterson played it on his show and i never caught the name of the tune, you know what this might be?

/\ out-takes aren't the easiest thing to get a hold of. But 4 or 5 people on here have PM'd asking me to hook them up with some Prince outtakes, live and unreleased stuff, so I'm planning to make a thread in here soon where I will upload rare Prince stuff.

Sounds good, there were some on oink at one point i think but the torrent died. I saw 'An Evening With Kevin Smith' the other night and he speaks on prince for about 20 mins about when he done a documentary which just never got used. Said he was told there are shitloads of full length music vids that he made only to just throw in the vaults and numerous other projects. Must be some gems in there. You got know that song title by the way? There were no vocals in it, just a pretty crazy intrumental

Yeah I've seen the Kevin Smith thing. "Don't talk to me like I'm fuckin' Apollonia!!" - lmao

Prince indeed has a ridiculously massive vault. I'd say the unreleased stuff that has leaked and is available on the bootleg market probably only represents a tenth of his overall vault.

Sorry, what song were you referring to? I've lost track.

But to throw this thread back on point, I'm currently listening to:

Joni Mitchell's 'Hejira'

and

Pearl Jam's 'Yield'

It's cool , i managed to get hold of it. It was the 'Brand New Orleans' tune that was done after Hurricane Katrina. The whole song was done by him without collaboration apparently, damn impressive.

Anyhow, been listening to this today

Cody ChesnuTT - The Headphone Masterpiece

Yeah I have that, sorry, I forgot what we were discussing lol. You mean the S.S.T single. Tracklist is:

1.S.S.T
2. Brand New Orleans.

There's also a remix of S.S.T by Plant Life.

Hey Puff, I have seen Robert Randolph and The Family Band live. They were pretty good.

There are some really dope songs on this, like 'Fields of Gold' or 'Shape of My Heart'...

--------------------------------------------------------------

I hate LostProphets' latest album, but Start Something was really good IMO.

Wow i love the plantlife, does it feature the their vocals?
Any chance you could hook me up with this via PM?
Nah it was just a remix, and it wasn't very good in my opinion, so I deleted it. I'll try and get it again later for you. I know Plant Life. I did a gig with them a couple of years ago.
