TED didn't censor the speech, it just didn't make the cut (according to the TED guy)
For the record, pretty much everyone at TED, including me, worries a great deal about the issue of rising inequality. We've carried talks on it in the past, like this one from
Richard Wilkinson
. We'd carry more in the future if someone can find a way of framing the issue that is convincing and avoids being needlessly partisan in tone.
The problem with that is that rising inequality is a bipartisan issue because it was brought on largely (though not entirely) by republican policies. you can't talk about rising inequality without mentioning the really rich and you can't mention the really rich without mentioning republican policies that made it easy for them to obtain wealth at the expense of others.
the irony here is that by avoiding an issue that's partisan in tone, the TED guy made it a political issue.
