TED didn't censor the speech, it just didn't make the cut (according to the TED guy)
yeah, I read his blog post.

For the record, pretty much everyone at TED, including me, worries a great deal about the issue of rising inequality. We've carried talks on it in the past, like this one from
Richard Wilkinson

. We'd carry more in the future if someone can find a way of framing the issue that is convincing and avoids being needlessly partisan in tone.
Bold for emphasis.

The problem with that is that rising inequality is a bipartisan issue because it was brought on largely (though not entirely) by republican policies. you can't talk about rising inequality without mentioning the really rich and you can't mention the really rich without mentioning republican policies that made it easy for them to obtain wealth at the expense of others.

the irony here is that by avoiding an issue that's partisan in tone, the TED guy made it a political issue.

Looks like he's trying to zone in on his mouth, but Will keeps moving his head from side to side trying to evade it as politely as possible - then he bitch slaps him. lol

FB needs to make money off its users and sharing user information is definitely one of the ways it does this, of course its going to, and has been, gathering data on its users. Its naive to think otherwise
Who thinks otherwise? That's what I just said, is it not?

Facebook seem to profile the data a lot more than Microsoft and Google. Although Microsoft have been working with facebook. The Google guys seem to be interested in improving the world we live in. ZB seems intent on becoming as powerful as he can be.

I can really care less if that kike uses my data, I don't really put myself out there like that so who cares. People who get crazy about Facebook privacy really need to realize that they are not special
Completely disagree.

Maybe you would also like to support everyone's DNA and fingerprints kept on record, because it's only a small jump from what he is doing to that.

I don't put a lot of information on facebook, so it doesn't affect me. But the fact that facebook can do what they want with your family photos is a joke, and a violation of privacy. Advertising revenue >>> Privacy.

Jesus Christ with the antisemitism guys
Jesus was the posterboy of the antisemitic.

again, you're not special.
That isn't the point though. And it is a reason why people will switch off from Facebook. You need to mine data carefully. People won't be happy when they see their holiday photos from facebook pop up elsewhere on the internet. Even attention whores get upset about their privacy....

I understand that's not the point. The thing is, I don't believe Facebook is selling our information in the way we think Iran will sell nukes to terrorists if they get an atomic bomb. Facebook is instead using our data and our connections to get a better understanding of us so that they can target ads more accurately. Google reads your emails and targets ads to you. I don't see how you're fine with that but not with what Facebook is doing. I don't see where you got the idea that Facebook will sell your photos to some random company. I also wouldn't make the mistake of thinking that GOOG is good and FB is evil. In the end, they're all the same more or less. Zuck is paranoid about people leaving Facebook. Facebook's whole reason for existence is traffic. If people stop using it, there's no Facebook. Zuck understands that and he'll be careful about violating privacy. Now that FB is public, there's going to be a lot more scrutiny. The problem is that shareholders will soon start figuring out that Zuck cares more about preventing people from leaving Facebook than he does about advertising revenue. Without ensuring that people's privacy isn't being "too" violated, there's no advertising revenue.
