With all these "classic" albums being handed to them, they completely leave out the wackness of the mid-90's (and before that), which results in a false notion of early hip hop being soooo much better than what's out today.

The south had a Hip Hop scene almost as long as the East & West, what are you talking about? Folks were putting out records since the mid-late 80's.
