Stephon Marbury will not be active for Friday's game between the Knicks and Sixers in Philadelphia.

"Either he has a big part of the pie or none and [Wednesday] night was none," Mike D'Antoni said. "And he felt it was tough just sitting there like that. So if we were going to go for that decision, then we decided that it would be probably better that he doesn’t dress. Otherwise, it's hard for him to sit there. I understood that."

"I’m not frusturated at all," Marbury said. "I have no control over it. If it was raining outside, I can't get mad if it’s raining. I’ve got to go get an umbrella and then walk in the rain. I have no control over the situation. The coach makes the decision on who plays and who’s not going to play and obviously, right now he feels like I’m not one of the guys that’s going to be playing."

Speaking about whether he felt he had played his last game in a Knick uniform, Marbury said, "I didn't go that far. I’m not there. I’m not in that place."

"I want to stress, he’s been great," D'Antoni said. "He did everything we asked, he came ready. So it’s really just two things collided and I just couldn’t make this fit. I want to be respectful to him and everything, he’s been in the league a long time. This is the best thing I can come up with."

Anthony Roberson will be activated for Friday's game.
marbury is being very mature about it, wonder how long til that ends or if he's only doing it because he doesnt care whether or not her plays for the knicks...

Damn, D'antoni is really making a statement by not playing Marbury.

So check out the Race to the MVP: Top 3

1. Kobe Bryant, Los Angeles Lakers
Stats: PPG -- 19.5; RPG -- 9.5; APG -- 4.0; SPG -- 1.5; BPG -- 0.0; FG% -- .483; FT% -- .833
Comment: Love him or hate him, Kobe's greatness can't be denied. He's talented, he works hard and he plays hurt. For anyone other than Kobe to win MVP this season, they'll need to take it from him. Think he'll let that happen easily? His initial individual numbers for this season aren't eye-popping, but his Lakers have won their first two games by an average of 29 points.

2. Chris Paul, New Orleans Hornets
Stats: PPG -- 20.5; RPG -- 6.5; APG -- 10.5; SPG -- 3.0; BPG -- 0.5; FG% -- .484; FT% -- .833
Comment: Paul is rapidly becoming the best 6-foot-and-under player in NBA history. No, seriously. After a breakout season, Paul picked up where he left off last season. Digits for the first two games -- 20.5 points, 10.5 dimes and 6.5 boards. Impressive for a man of any height.

3. Paul Pierce, Boston Celtics
Stats: PPG -- 27.0; RPG -- 3.0; APG -- 4.0; SPG -- 1.0; BPG -- 0.0; FG% -- .526; FT% -- .625
Comment: So what if he cried at the Celtics ring ceremony as if he'd watched a Beaches and Steel Magnolias double feature? It was his banner party and he could cry if he wanted to. You would cry too if it happened to you. Dropping 27 on Tuesday against the Cavs' D after that emotional opener was equally impressive.

He is also one of the biggest cry babies in the league, when he got tied up on the baseline last night against Portland I swore it looked like he was about to bust out in tears.

Maybe for that game he might have looked like a crybaby, but overall Tim Duncan is one of the most calm guys on the court. He never really argues a call, even if it's a bad call. I don't think i've ever seen him get a technical foul for arguing a call.

Meanwhile, back in Laker land. Here's what Odom and Ariza had to say about the recent extension of Bynum:

Lamar Odom and Trevor Ariza were happy to hear that Andrew Bynum had signed a four-year, $57.4-million contract extension. Odom and Ariza can't negotiate new deals until July 1, but neither seemed concerned about his future when they talked Friday after practice.

Odom will earn $11.4 million in the final year of his contract this season. (His salary counts as $14.1 million against the salary cap because of a trade kicker he received when the Lakers acquired him from Miami.) Last summer Odom's agent talked to the Lakers' management about a contract extension but was told to wait until next summer. Odom, who turns 29 Thursday, was asked if he'd be willing to take less money to stay with the Lakers.

"If the deal is long enough, yeah, I could," Odom said. "All my power is in L.A., as far as what I'm trying to do off the court with my businesses." He was also asked if his preference was to make at least what he is getting now, in the $11-million to $12-million per year range. Who wants to take a pay cut?" Odom said. "Nobody. A garbage man, if he makes $8 [an hour] one day, he at least wants to make $8 or $9 the next day. He works every day. He doesn't want to take a cut.

Ariza, whom the Lakers acquired last season in a trade with the Orlando Magic, will make $3.1 million this year. Ariza has been very solid in the first two games, averaging 11 points, four rebounds and making four of five three-pointers.

Source: Los Angeles Times

Hopefully we can keep both Odom and Ariza, because Odom's versatility is key against other teams. He creates mismatches. Ariza is getting better at his shooting, which is the only thing that he needed to work on. He has the defense, he's a great slasher, and he's young, so he has room for improvement on every aspect of his game. (Oh, and he dunked on Grant Hill, omfg i'll never forget that)

Lakers visit the Nuggets tonight in Carmelo Anthony's first game back from his suspension.

Coming off a two-game suspension, Anthony scored 11 of his 13 points in the fourth quarter. He made two 3-pointers with under a minute left.

why he got suspended?
