The Imperial Collapse Playbook

The article says "A-listers" and I had to scroll a bit to find one! Yeah, let's wear a mask and underwear to raise awareness!! Freaks.

I didn't know Heidi Klum is an American citizen. I guess she applied for it so she could vote for Obama! lol These rich people just get a new citizenship with ease or what? Makes me feel silly about poor immigrants and their status in America.

Isaac Asimov, naturalized American citizen
Alexander Graham Bell, naturalized American citizen
Nikola Tesla, naturalized American citizen
Albert Einstein, naturalized American citizen
Enrico Fermi, naturalized American citizen
Zbigniew Brzezinski, naturalized American citizen
Henry Kissinger, naturalized American citizen

Heidi Klum, naturalized American citizen

That's quite the list she belongs to. lol I'm also surprised at the amount of athletes. I can't believe Dan Akyroyd and Lorne Michaels were/are Canadians!

I do admit, Marlon Brando's Sacheen Littlefeather protest is exemplary.

“I suppose they were booing at me as I interrupted their fantasy with a little reality” -Marlon Brando

Here is Clint Eastwood making a joke about it! I guess some things never change!

What's changed is how lame Hollywood protests are. It's not so much as Hollywood but the audience don't care much for it. Legend has it that what made Will Smith slap was his frustration with how lame Hollywood protests are.

Why am I posting this? Because Hollywood is a big part of the empire.

Bridging the Pacific gap: Hollywood in post-WWII Japan

Asia can make its own movies now. America is no longer special.

To me it seems like the culture has resulted to people like Tom Cruise and Lady Gaga showing up in Tokyo once a year to stack Yen. I feel like the empire has sucked enough money out of Asia already. Enough!

The problem of history’s (and collective memory’s) corruptibility is exacerbated by the absorption of these altered narratives by societies living under the aegis of those making the histories. Why there is such little resistance by people exposed to politically modified histories is a topic for debate, but most scholars seem to agree that “in creating collective memories, societies are not bound by the same rules of evidence that discipline historians.” Kansteiner identifies “a troubling disregard for proof” as a cause for the seemingly indiscriminate acceptance of historical representations among societies. What results from such a combination of historical manipulation and unchecked absorption might resemble the dystopian picture painted by George Orwell in his famous novel 1984, where the State reveled in the blind adherence to the myth-histories it propagated. The occupation of Japan had just begun to ease its restrictions on Japanese media outlets and allow for open communication about the war in 1949, the same year Orwell’s novel was published. The formal occupation of Japan, which would continue for another three years was likely the most cogent example of what Orwell had warned the world of.

On July 28, 1949, a group of men quietly gathered at Shōchiku studio for a closed screening. It was the day to view the rushes of Murderer (Satsujinki), an extended court story about a man’s suspected killing of his wife. Present in the dim room were three company representatives, three legal experts (one Japanese, two American), and two censors from MacArthur’s Civil Information and Education Section, which routinely monitored the content of the movies. The CIE censors had taken great interest in this production, as they believed that it could introduce “democratic court procedures” and “enlighten . . .

For some odd reason it reminded me of this

lol freedom and democracy

[I keep forgetting that strong adherents of democracy has said that democracy doesn't mean 'everyone is involved' -- no way they say -- democracy is reserved for the rich and those with credentials. So I ask myself, can we at least get more meritocracy? Getting rich by showing cleavage isn't a merit.]
