Alright, I met with an old friend of mine over lunch today to discuss this thing. For those who aren't familiar with it, it's basically a website that sells products, but you can get a percentage of it back. What you do is you get 50 people to sign up under you, and instead of going out to Wal-Mart and shopping, you all buy your products through Quixtar and points are given. Everyone who is under you contributes to your total point value and you get a certain percentage of the actual amount of money depending on how much everyone on that "leg" buys. Like this:

Average point value per actual dollar is 1 point per $2.50

Everyone spends $250 that month (100 points per person)

100 points times 50 people is 5000 points total, which say puts you in the 20% range

Then you get a check for 20% of the actual money value (250 * 50 = $12500.. 12500 * .2 = $2500)

Then you can make more legs and get more money with more points.

My question: Is anyone familiar with this or anything similar? Is it something worth getting into, or shoul di run away?

it seems similar to them "Get a free i-pod" scams... where you have to sign up and deposit about £5 into an account on a sister site... then you have to get 20 other people to do the same, but by referencing you... so in away, you and your mates have bought a communal i-pod...

The idea most ppl get from these things is pyramid scam, and they're not too far off.. Techinically these things are called legalized pyramid schemes. Although amway, which is considered just another quixtar did meet some lawsuit for something i cant exactly recall, its name has been cleared.

IN regards to quixtar, i know someone who was into it, and he said it didnt work out for him in terms that they have quotas you have to meet ever quarter, which should you dont fullfill your points are flushed, ie they restart. So he got pretty turned off on these things..

I have heard of a new thing (these things are called mlms btw; Muti level marketing) called Market America the unfrancise system. In terms of pay structure, it is alot better than most of the other mlms including quixtar, but basically same shit different pile.

How do i know this? Iv always critizsed these "legalized pryamid schemes" without actually learning anything bout them, someone who was into this, simply explained alot to me, and even thoguh i never signed up, i felt it was good to at least get the other side, or at least know what im critizing.

I dont suggest anyone to really do these things without proper motivation and the mind set that this is merely a method to obtain secondary income, at a slow but consistent pace. Dont expect money to flow in, i hear these things take 2-3 years.. which is somewhat of a short term goal, if your willing to put in the effort.
