Question to people who are currently attending college.

I attend university in NSW in Australia. I got in with my end of high school marks and chose the HECS option which is sort of like a loan from the government. They pay my fees and when I graduate and am earning money, I will have to pay them back. If you have the money you can pay this upfront and recieve a discount but it ranges from about $10000 to over $30000 depending on your course. I have a casual job (about 9 hours a week) but that doesn't earn me near enough to begin saving money for university costs.

Really I thought that the college doesn't look at your grades for your senior year because you apply to the college at the beginning of senior year, thats what all my teachers told me.
That's the reason why I'm gonna take easy classes for my senior year so I can just mess around and have as much fun as I can for my last year in high school.

you know what now that you say that , i think im getting a flash back from being in school a teacher or some higher power telling me that also. i think i was wrong. oh well, still if you work hard and get a good gpa , ya never know.

Dang you're hella lucky to be going there. :thumb: :thumb: Is it fun?????

haha.. i know some of its luck.. but i would also believe that some of it was hardwork and dedication..

I like it here.. but i prefer the los angeles atmosphere as opposed to the berkeley/oakland community...Its fun and challenging at the same time.. but my major is fucking crazy ass competetive so i always have to try to stay on top..im prone to say that it gets cut throat..

I wanna major in biology so I can get into medical school and become a surgeon.

I wanna get rich so that I can give money and help out poor families and kids.

My family owns a Taco Del Mar right now but we're thinkin about selling it. Its our first business we've had only for about 10 months.

Cause I'm gonna be a senior next and I'm gonna get a job so I wondering should start saving up for college or spend some money on my car.

Save for college for sure I reckon, there's plenty of things you'll need - if not books and fees, you'll wanna have the financial freedom so that you can concentrate on study (or partying - whichever the case may be, lol), so that you dont have struggle to makes ends meet while you are there.

I'm in the same situation as simo, I'm deferring all payment for my degree and will pay it off in installments when I earn enough during my future career. Still, there are a lot of outgoing expenses... printing, internet, books, food, alcohol etc, hehehe - so the more you save now, the easier things will be for you later.

Australia is pretty sweet, our government pays for our study courses and allows us to pay it back when we're earning enough money, on top of that they pay us $380 bucks for studying per fortnight through centrelink if you live away from home. So Uni doesn't really cost that much,, just books ect, easy as.

It doesn't cost me anything cuz my dad pays everything. Anyways, I'm gonna get a job next semester and pay it myself.

I didn't know it was so expensive going to college for some of you  Public universities are free here, and I go to one of the best private unis and it's not very expensive, 3000 pesos a year (about U$S1000 a year). I was hoping to save enough to study a year at england or the us, but $9000 too much :(

The federal government has been cutting funding to universities and tuition has skyrocketed over the past four years. $9000 is actually pretty cheap for here, especially for a school of the caliber that I'm going to.

england is very expensive for foreign students. It's ok for us tho, I pay £1150 in fees a year. To cover that I have my student loan, which is £3200 approx. a year. I dont pay the loan back until i'm earning over £15,000 a year, and interest is charged at the rate of inflation.

i'm doing a Masters is Electronic & Computer Engineering.
