I dunno why I quoted, but what made you give up meat Rukas?
Nice to see you around man.
Gave up chicken first because it reminded me of my pet birds, then realized I never ate lamb or veal because baby animals are cute, and realized I cant justify one life over the other based on looks. So I just stopped eating meat as a test just to see if I could do it, and found that I felt better than ever. Just felt lighter, had more energy, felt like I was in my teens again, so stuck with it.
For me it's like, why kill another life only to eat something that makes my health and thus life worse?
I dont really have the scientific quotes and stuff that Casey does its just my logic, common sense and own personal observations. But I used to eat steak once a week and meat every day, and no matter how you sugar coat it (or sauce coat it), that is rotting flesh in your gut. I just felt lighter and better without it. And I dont mean lighter as in weight, which hasnt changed, I mean just lighter on my feet, like meat was slowing me down. I cant really explain it.
My girlfriend gave up meat like 4 months after I did and feels great too.
As long as you eat a healthy diet, which you should be anyway, you dont get anything extra from meat, I didnt, just animal flesh holding me down.
For the record, my main problem is the mass production of life simply to kill it and feed people. Plus the deforestation caused by grazing animals. Here in Australia they have completely fucked up the top soil, which leads to run off into the river and other problems. But yeah, I dont like the idea of creating a life, simply to eat it.
I guess if I was out in the forest I would hunt though, because that is survival of the fittest, and Id rather not starve, and that animal had it's life and chance. But as long as I can sustain my life (and be healthier for it) without meat, I wont eat it.
